LRN.FM - The Liberty Radio Network / Mises Media
« on: September 19, 2010, 01:46:44 AM »
Some of what is on the Mises Institute's feed would make a good addition.  Most of it would not, as they put every audiobook, speech etc. available on there.

One show that would be worth adding, however, is The Libertarian Tradition by Jeff Riggenbach.  Also consider adding the Mises Daily Article.

The Show / Subsidizing oil (Ian)
« on: September 05, 2009, 04:00:10 AM »
Ian stated that the military interventions in the Middle East are keeping down the price of oil.  This is a myth that causes people who otherwise view the interventions as bad to assume that they receive some benefit to having them over there.  This mercantilist belief tends to encourage support of wars.  Maybe certain oil companies wouldn't profit from that particular oil, but every oil consumer would benefit when the oil hit the world market.  The US military has actually slowed the flow of oil.  They have also destroyed resources that likely would have been used to produce more oil, as anything taken by the state keeps other wealth that would have come into existence from doing so.

I believe that I heard Wayne also make this claim before.

LRN.FM - The Liberty Radio Network / Napolitano's Freedom Watch
« on: June 17, 2009, 03:40:11 PM »
Napolitano's Freedom Watch is available via a podcast feed.  The audio of the show is largely the relevant portion  There isn't usually much meaningful video.  Would it likely be a problem with Fox to put something like this up?

General / Vote for Freedom Watch guests
« on: May 01, 2009, 12:32:53 AM »
Help get new guests on Andrew Napolitano's Freedom Watch.

Each person gets 10 votes and may cast up to 3 for one person.  If you run out of votes, you may remove votes you cast for someone and then cast them for another person.  Add links for others you wish to encourage people here to choose

Below are some that haven't been on that I would like to get on.

Click on the people below to vote for their appearance.

Will Grigg

Gardner Goldsmith  (he has expressed interest on his podcast and elsewhere in being on the show.)

Mary Ruwart

Walter Block

Scott Horton

Robert Higgs

Thomas DiLorenzo

Free Talk Live people:

Sam Dodson  (FTL has been trying to get attention for Sam's efforts to record.  I'm not sure how this will work, but vote and see what happens.)

Ian Freeman  (I don't know if this is something he wants to do, but vote for him if you want.  I suppose he could be another person to promote the FSP on there.)

Mark Edgington  (He always complains that he doesn't get to do as many media appearances as Ian.  Vote for him if you want to make him happy.)

Others:

Stefan Molyneux  (He tends to not like to do many media appearances, so I don't know if he would be willing.)

The Show / Ian on Lectures
« on: April 25, 2009, 02:17:56 AM »
Ian expressed a hatred of lectures, but wasn't the Liberty Forum made up largely of lectures?  As far as I know, he liked much that.

I agree about the stupid high school note copying.  I always thought it was pretty stupid and just sat there listening and looking around the room at everyone else furiously writing everything down.  Dale was right about not being able to listen well and copy everything.

Here's another thread for you, Alex.

The Polling Pit / Who will Mark vote for for president?

Well, how 'bout it?  He seems to go from one position to another depending on the time and his mood.

General / Setting up a news website
« on: August 29, 2008, 01:03:55 AM »
Do any of you have any ideas on resources to set up a news website.  I have a domain purchased that I want to use for a local news site.  I want to accept article submissions and hopefully update at least once a week starting out with a collection of articles at each update.  Is there some readily available software to run this?

I would like to avoid updating everything in html code each time.  I am thinking I would like to put submissions in a queue that would post at a set time with some regularity.

Any direction to resources or those who would have knowledge in doing this would be helpful.

I may just set up a Google Aps page to start.

General / FTL press credentialls in Minneapolis / St. Paul
« on: August 28, 2008, 07:55:08 AM »
I remember hearing on the show that someone made some downloadable FTL press credentials.  Where are these, and would it be ok if I and anyone else use them in Minneapolis / St. Paul near the Rethuglican convention or the Ron Paul rally?  It could help to get interviews and take pictures.  Maybe the cops will be a tad less likely to arrest one with an id hanging from his neck.  I would also like to possibly ask some questions of people at the Ron Paul rally.  I should make another thread for question ideas.

General / Recording the government officials in New Hampshire
« on: August 17, 2008, 03:49:34 PM »
Considering that recording devices are currently our best weapons against the state, it is useful to know what the state thinks about recording.  New Hampshire is one of the most restrictive according to this page:  http://www.rcfp.org/taping/

I'm all for doing moral things that are against statute without getting busted.  But the idea behind recording is to expose them, so hidden recordings might have limited use.  I remember reading a story about a family that was in trouble with the police for having a CCTV system at their house when the Blue Light Gang showed up.

General / Exposing government officials
« on: June 24, 2008, 01:20:22 PM »
I have thought for a long time whenever I hear some story about some state official abusing non-state people that we should make an effort to expose the identity of those doing the wrong.  We seem to always hear of the person who is shot or wrongly arrested, but who is doing the shooting and arresting?  If the name can be found, personal information can be linked to it and publicly posted.  The information is likely already publicly available from sites such as zaba or county assessor sites.

It isn't popularly seen as legitimate to use force to defend one's self against the violence of the blue light gang, but exposing as much as possible can be fairly easily done and maybe help them to know that little brother is watching.

On nwi.com, this is today's question.

Should Northwest Indiana's federal anti-drug task force be disbanded?
