The Polling Pit / Re: Bigger Gayer Dance Party at Porcfest 2012
« on: June 14, 2012, 11:01:28 PM »
Dale, would this be an appropriate party for wearing an outlandish costume?
I ask because I have a carmen miranda costume I made for halloween last year.  Had to remain totally sober and go home early for a race the next day, and missed out on the chance to dance in a ruffled blue and yellow skirt with fruit basket on my head...
...yes, I know it would be far better if my husband wore the costume and entered the drag contest, but there just isn't time to take in the bust and let out the waist before we leave for NH.

I'm buying tickets anyway, but was hoping for a legitimate reason to wear my one-use dress :)

If you're done listening to Ian, start listening to Mark.

Mark is your voice of reason and realistically interacting with your neighbors.

have mental picture of listeners hanging out by their computers, covering their ears and humming loudly until they see Mark start talking on the webcam

I'm tired of vapid phrases like "hurting peaceful people" and "nonviolent evolution".

This says a lot about you Dennis, in a not good way.

+1,000,000

Sad to see Dennis still so worked up about this.  Hope you get past your anger.

Denis doesn't seem terribly worked up about it. It sounds like he's disagreed with the direction of the show for a while, and finally came to a decision. He used the power of his wallet to show his disapproval.

Isn't that how the free market is supposed to work?

What made it end so horribly?  :(

I had heartburn, 24/7. I'm sure some of it was caused by bouncing while running, but when I started eating all the fruits and veggies instead of dropping them in the juicer... everything was fine.

Oh well time to go juice me some bacon.

You could always infuse vodka with bacon, then add to freshly juiced tomatoes :)

Juice fasting started great, but ended horribly for me.

I juice often, but it's now just because I like it and it's good for me, not as main food source.
Cutting all meat, dairy, bread and junk carbs for a few days in favor of eating fruit, veggies and raw almonds - and drinking fresh juice - gives me similar benefits, without the downside.

Hmmm... I am not a fan of dancing, but Mr. Joy loves to dance.

Maybe I should buy tickets and take him, as a thank you for all hours he spends waiting for me to cross a finish line so he can hand me a hot/cold beverage.

Of course you could bring a bottle of liquor.  Don't be a sillyhead.

Of course I'm BYOB-ing. I'm not sure I could spend that much time with my children without a bottle or three.

This thread looked sad, so I'll say Hi.

Hi.

I'm not attending, but if I did, you'd be drinking a shot of Tequila, mofo.

Thanks - it's been supplanted by the "BBS users who are coming to PorcFest" - and that's okay with me.

Sorry you won't be there. I'd gladly drink a shot of tequila* with you. I think there will be a good number of folks that are there simply to enjoy the fellowship of like-minded folks in a woodsy setting, not just the high drama porcupines, but I understand your reasons for not making the trip.

*As long as said tequila was obtained in a manner which followed the Rogers Campground rules. (to touch on the discussion from the other thread.) I'm all for unlicensed manicures and breakfast sandwiches, but I don't recall there being anything about those activities in the campground policies I agreed to.

I'm terribly curious who I'll get to meet IRL this summer.

I'm here, though not as much these days.
The latest movie and what are you reading thread are what I usually check in on.

Don't often see a new thread worth jumping into. Even the threads about the show seem to be more about slamming one of the hosts for behavior or personality, instead of taking issue with differences of opinion on an issue.

I, for one, welcome our new Sakal overlords.

The schedule is looking quite good with the new organization. Something for everyone.

My whole family is looking forward to Porcfest this year. My youngest is excited about crafting with Mel and several of the kid activities; my older two have already figured out which table games they're bringing. Pretty sure my husband is thinking mostly of the woven bacon he heard about on NPR.

We've been locked into visiting family with each vacation over the last several years, but declared this summer to be a year when we're doing exactly what we want... camping with the porcupines in NH again :)
