I would say that it symbolizes your opinions more than your etiquette.  The reason is that people who disagree with you and become angered by your arguments are probably more likely to bitchslap you than someone is likely to applaud you for forum "etiquette".  IMO etiquette is expected, and only something to be applauded when someone managed to stay civil under personal attack or a similar situation.  I only think that bitchslaps should be used if you spam the board, harass people, or do some other stupid things.  I don't think a person's true opinions and arguments are ever a reason to bitchslap (unless they fall into the harassment, etc. category).

Google isn't too bad.  You can greatly enhance your privacy with the CustomizeGoogle extension for Firefox.  It renders Google's much of Google's tracking system useless when configured.

I hope he pulls through.  From the Fox article, his two kids were in the car with him but luckily it sounds like they weren't badly injured.

The Polling Pit / Re: Did you DISlike the Landmark Show?
« on: November 01, 2006, 11:13:21 AM »
I thought it was fine.  It definitely wasn't my favorite show, but it wasn't bad either.  I think Ian would have been more successful if he wasn't trying to attack Mark and his beliefs as much.  I do think Ian (and just about everyone else) is right, however, that Landmark is not a good thing to be involved with.  By attacking Mark for his belief in Landmark and failing, he's only more likely to push Mark away from him as a friend and toward Landmark.

I don't have kids, but I do plan on it when I'm out of school.

The Polling Pit / Re: Is Mark a Cult Member?
« on: October 30, 2006, 02:09:30 PM »
I don't know that I'd call it a cult, but I was disappointed to hear that Mark was a member of (or believer in) Landmark Education.  It seems like they ask you to pay over and over for these seminars where they redefine words and basically give you a big self-help kind of talk which you could have gotten much more cheaply from a book.  What really bothers me about these things, though, is that they try to get the participants to recruit for them.  I see it as very similar to what the Mormons and similar organizations do with their door-to-door missionary work.  Generally I think Mark is a pretty reasonable guy, but I lost some respect for him after finding out that he belonged to one of these organizations.

The Polling Pit / Re: How did you find out about Free Talk Live?

I can't be sure, but I believe I found FTL after searching for political (libertarian) podcasts on iTunes.
