General / Re: Discussion of Looper with spoilers

There were certainly plot holes. Like why they didnt use their time machines for useful purposes. Or if they were going to use them to kill people, why didnt they just send people back in time to somewhere they'd die at. Like a volcano or the ocean.

I enjoyed it. You're right though, it did take a different route in the last third of the movie. I actually laughed at the one point in the movie where Bruce Willis just basically said "fuck it" and literally killed everyone.

General / Occupy Wall Street Bus Trip
« on: August 18, 2012, 08:13:10 PM »
Are any of you guys planning on heading to Occupy Wall Street next month for the Sept 17'th activities?  Near me there is the possibility of a free round trip bus to NY sponsored by the OWS people and I'm considering taking them up on this offer.

I know some liberty people have been down there before and it'd be real cool to spot some of those folks or gather together with them.

Any updates on Momma Ally?  Does she have her kid?  Is she in jail?  Will her great food be back at Porcfest?  I'm eating grits right now.

The Biscuit Baby who was supposed to be 'safe' according to the state until things were 'figured out' in the runaway house, after being taken from her mother at Fort Freedom, was threatened with handcuffs and forced by police into her fathers car after being torn from her mothers arms in screaming, crying, beggng tears and dragged back to Oklahoma again. Momma Ally is again devastated and finding it very hard to gather her strength to get back up and fight again. Her soul has been stolen by the state :( So please forgive this groups lack of in the street activism for a little bit. When Momma regroups we will be back at it again. Thanks for your understanding PEACE and SOLIDARITY

I'm not really an "anime" person but I've been on a Miazaki (spelled wrong) Studio Ghibli kick lately. I've seen My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, & Spirited Away in the past. Recently I watched Howls Moving Castle and Porco Rosso. All excellent.

I am a huge huge The Hobbit fan, and a decent fan of TLOTR trilogy. I am actually happy to have heard about the fact that it will be 3 films instead of two. Heres why.

The first film will be a decent chunk of the book. It will not feature Smog or anything after Smog. It will likely be very true to the books. This includes the bit at Bag End, a bit with the Trolls, the part where they are at Rivendell (likely extended because they seem to want to include a female character not found in the book & who is an elf), then the large bit with the goblins and the famous scene with Golum and the ring. I bet it will end with them starting to enter Mirkwood.

The second film will feature a lot more of Smog and will lead UP TO the Battle of the Five Armies. It will feature an extended part about Mirkwood. More elves. The humans. Smog. And ending with Smogs death.

The final film will have the final battle. Obviously this bit will have a huge extended portion away from the books.

Also extended from what was in the books: They will go very much into detail about where exactly Gandalf was when he disappeared from the group all those times. This really will tie into the LOTR trilogy more, where Sauron came from, perhaps about the ring, etc.

Also, Beorn.

I havent been posting much lately because I am working hard on getting my Food Cart business up and running. Like many anarcho-capitalists I am sure, I wish to become self employed through entrepreneural persuits. Thus, I have started a funding campaign to purchase a food cart. If any of you would like to see, here is the link:
http://www.indiegogo.com/slurp
There is even an option on there for a sponsor to purchase space on the side of the cart for their advertisement.

This is the web site as well, SlurpCart.com.
