What do you think, does this punishment fit the crime?

“US Marine Corps combat veteran Kristoffer Lewandowski, who served in three tours of duty overseas including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, reportedly faces up to life in prison for pot charges connected to a June 2014 raid on his Geronimo, OK home that occurred after his wife and neighbors called police to get him help for a post-traumatic stress disorder flare-up. However, rather than providing mental health resources, police responding on the scene searched Lewandowski’s home for contraband and found six marijuana plants, weighing in at less than an ounce of plant matter in total, and charged him with, among other offenses, felony marijuana cultivation, which, under Oklahoma’s unusually-harsh marijuana laws, carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Truth in Media obtained an exclusive interview with Kristoffer Lewandowski’s wife Whitney Lewandowski in an effort to get their family’s story on the record.

Whitney Lewandowski said that her husband, a loving father to three children who was honorably medically discharged from the Marines and is 100% disabled due to severe post-traumatic stress disorder, was growing the marijuana for personal use, “He was just using it… He couldn’t get any, and, of course, we’re a military family, we’re very poor, we couldn’t afford to buy it anyway. So he was just growing it for himself. He was on his way out of the military and just wanted to see if it would help with [his mental health issues]. He was taking 13 pills a day, and it was just killing his liver. He was having all these issues with his body and he just wanted to try something more natural to just see if he could do without that many pills a day.” She called his medical marijuana treatments “absolutely effective.”

General / City Threatens Veteran with Arrest for Living off Grid
« on: June 27, 2015, 12:54:00 PM »
This is seriously messed up!

“Huntsville, AL military veteran Tyler Truitt answered the call to defend the rights of all Americans during his service to his country but is now being forced to defend his own right to live a self-sustaining lifestyle on his property.

Last week, Truth in Media reported on a dispute, originally covered by WAFF-TV, between Marine Corps veteran Tyler Truitt and the City of Huntsville, wherein city officials are trying to condemn Truitt’s off-the-grid home and drive him off his land. Truitt opted to provide power, water, and waste removal for his home that he shares with his girlfriend through renewable means like solar power, rainwater collection, and composting rather than by hooking up to city utilities, which city authorities say makes his property a danger to the public. Truitt says that he signed up for the military to fight for Americans’ freedoms but feels that, now that he is back on US soil, his own property rights are under threat.

Truitt provided a lengthy video, embedded above, answering questions and providing details related to his fight to keep living off-the-grid on his own property. Truth in Media went further and obtained an exclusive interview with him and asked some additional follow-up questions to shed light on the particulars of his struggle.”

From SebastianAmmo.com, Sign up for a chance to win here!

“Why give away an AR-15 rifle from http://www.sebastianammo.com/ ? The answer is simple, we believe that media is working very hard to smear law abiding gun owners and make them out to be criminals and violent people. The Truth in Media Project works to counter that propaganda by providing factual coverage of crime, gun ownership and the foundational American belief in the natural right to possess firearms for self defense!”

While Americans are calling Putin a dictator for his actions on Saturday, many of the same Americans are unaware that they live in a nation where wars are often dictated by their President.

As recently as 2011, President Obama committed troops to Libya without Congressional approval. At the time, Libya was not attacking or threatening the United States. Obama made the decision to send troops to Libya due to the pressure put on him from NATO and others.

Starting in July of last year, the war drums were beating on America mainstream media channels and even libertarian Glenn Beck was calling for a war in Syria. Ben Swann didn’t waste any time after the Season 1 Truth In Media project was funded to create a video titled, “What The Media Isn’t Telling You About Syria.” The video went viral and had over 500,000 views. It was about a month later....

General / Open Debates 2016
« on: January 17, 2014, 11:05:55 PM »
In light of statements such as “The Commission on Presidential Debates perpetuates a fraud on the American voter”, Free and Equal Elections Foundation hosted the 2012 “3rd Party” Presidential debates that were moderated by Larry King and Thom Hartmann and viewed by an estimated 20 million people. A number of us who worked with Free & Equal then (I was their communications director) have even bigger plans moving forward. We believe that with laying the groundwork down now, we can create debates that are viewed by far more than 20 million people and really help restore honest presidential debates in America.

Our 4 point plan to restore open and honest debates in 2016 and let alternative voices and ideas be heard can be found at http://opendebates2016.com/

The media project I'm working with now - http://benswann.com/ - is with an eye on creating relationships with people in other organizations and media outlets that will potentially help with the 2016 plan. (I'm Ben's pr director)

We are currently looking for organizations, companies, and media outlets would be interested in joining a coalition to help make these debates as big a success as possible, and if you know anyone who might consider joining with - http://ivn.us/ - https://www.freetalklive.com - http://www.watchingamerica.com/News/ - http://www.endpartisanship.com/ - some of the coalition already aboard, feel very free to pass this along. I think we can really shake things up!

Viva la r3volution!

“In dictatorships, it’s common for political insiders to hinder or even silence non-establishment challengers. To do that in America, which supposedly champions open elections, is outrageous and intolerable. But that is just what the Commission on Presidential Debates has done.”

General / 2016 3rd Party Debate Plan
« on: October 10, 2013, 07:49:32 PM »
I thought I’d share with the liberty lovin' peeps here what I’m cooking up for 2016…

Free and Equal Elections Foundation hosted the 2012 “3rd Party” Presidential debates that were moderated by Larry King and Thom Hartmann and viewed by an estimated 20 million people.  I’ve left Free & Equal, but I have even bigger plans moving forward.  I believe that with laying the groundwork down now, we can create debates that are viewed by far more than 20 million people and really compete on a national stage.

4 Point plan to give the 3rd Parties a media platform to fairly compete in 2016 and let alternative voices and ideas be heard.

1 - Hosting the debates in LA and NYC.  While I got lucky with Ora.tv helping to bring Larry King in to moderate the Chicago debate, I wasn’t so lucky in DC. While Thom Hartmann is well known, he’s not nearly as big as the names who were interested in moderating the 2nd debate had we been in LA or NYC. Larry King generated incredible amounts of press for that debate, and I plan on bringing in more names the entire country knows and cameras can’t help but follow to moderate the debates in 2016.  (Both Jon Stewart and Phil Donahue were interested if we had been in NYC, as were Ricki Lake and Martin Sheen had we been in LA.)

2 - Two tiers of sponsors. Our second tier sponsors will expand on the 57 media and organization sponsors F&E had for the 2012 debates. These sponsors paid nothing, but reported on the debates and helped spread word of them.  The first tier sponsors will be the real game changer in 2016 – organizations and companies that will sponsor us financially, enabling us to then take that money to the networks to run promotional ads in addition to broadcasting our debates.   RT America, The Real News Network, Al Jazeera, Free Speech TV, Ora.tv, Link TV and CSPAN all broadcast the 2012 debates, and I’m going to work hard to get at least one of the major networks to join that list in 2016. (As well as Ben Swann’s soon to launch EMP News Network)

3 - In the summer of 2012 a handful of Gary Johnson supporters were able to get through to 2 companies and 1 organization (Phillips, BBH New York and the YWCA) that had been sponsors of the Commission on Presidential Debates and educate them about their debates being closed.  I was late on the ball in trying to bring them on as sponsors of the debates in 2012, but I plan on really promoting this approach in 2016 to starve the CPD of their sponsorship dollars, and doing all we can to welcome these companies and orgs on as sponsors of the open debates. If we can get just one of these companies to sponsor them, it will create an opportunity for a national news story.

4 - At least 10 debates. We’ll start the 2016 debates in the early summer, and space them out so that the last one takes place right before the CPD’s start.  Just 2 debates close to election day is too little too late. Last year viewers could vote online for their favorites, and I plan on expanding that to voting via text message, with one candidate going home after every debate until 2 are left at the last debate. The plan is to create demand for the candidates to be included in the CPD’s events. If they don’t allow them to their debate, the American people will become very aware of the fraud, and we’ll publicly invite the D/R candidates to our platform while we continue hosting debates with our two remaining candidates on the same nights the CPD’s are held to include the VP’s. We’ll ignore them just as they’ve ignored us. We also plan for reality TV shows that showcase each of the candidates before the first debate airs.

The media project I'm helping with now - http://benswann.com/ - and the work I do with a reality TV show producer, are with an eye on creating relationships with people in other organizations and media outlets that will help with the 2016 plan.

I am currently looking for organizations/companies/media platforms that would be interested in forming a coalition to help make these debates as big a success as possible, and if you know of anyone who might consider joining with - http://ivn.us/- http://www.saveamericafoundation.com   - http://www.amtvmedia.comhttp://www.bluerepublican.org/ - some of the coalition that is already aboard, feel very free to pass this along!  I really think we can shake things up!

General / More Americans Are “Rethinking” 9/11?
« on: September 10, 2013, 08:13:35 PM »
“Did you know that a 3rd building fell on 9-11?  That bill board is today over Times Square.  It was placed there through donations to a campaign called Rethink 9/11.

In fact, that group has placed posters and signs across the world, from Australia, to Canada, from San Francisco to right here in New York City.

So what is Rethink 9/11?  Wouldn’t only a fringe group of people would still question 9/11?  Perhaps not, because today we will tell you about new polling that shows a majority of those polled either question the official 9/11 story or don’t believe it at all.  Is that possible?

The first step toward truth, is to be informed. “
