General / I'm never moving to New Hampshire
« on: October 20, 2011, 03:17:58 PM »
The homeschooling laws are better here by far.  Trillian and I have a plan for free market education.  I'm excited about it.

And...  People are fucking evil.  Good people are so hard to find.  "regular" people are willing to do terrible things and expect the same of other "regular" people.  I will never understand and never cease to be shocked by it.  I have a small number of good people in my life right now.  I've had to excise a whole lot of fucking assholes to get there.  I'm done with moving on only to find myself surrounded by a whole new set of evil ass motherfuckers.

I used to expect more from freedom lovers.  Turns out not initiating force is only sufficient to make you not a physical danger to people and that's a start, but libertarians are no more likely to be someone you actually trust and want in your life than the next guy.

I can have someone help me move and smile a lot only to deceive, manipulate and ridicule me anywhere I want.

General / What shouldn't need to be said....
« on: August 17, 2011, 08:43:43 PM »
I think freedom is wonderful.  Not just because it is morally correct but also because it works.  It doesn't solve all the world's problems, but it does a better job of it than Tyranny.

Lots of ideas are batted around here.  Over the years there have been countless discussion that have turned very angry.  People with radically different opinions who are very passionate them.  In other places in the liberty movement I've seen references to some of those and I've seen people express opinions that I know were heavily influenced by some of the most tumultuous and unfriendly of debates here on this BBS.  There are topics that almost all we old-schoolers agree on that at one time we didn't, we argued about them endlessly, we made headway.  Or we all understand all sides of it where at one time we didn't.

Freedom isn't pretty.  Your neighbors will do things you don't like.  If you love freedom you're willing to deal with that.  You will defend their right to do it.

Central control is fail in all things.

Libman had wonderful things to say.  He was also an ass.  Did he really get out of line w/ anyone here except those (especially one) that were aggressive towards him?  Never that I know of.

Dragline was obnoxious and rude, he drove conversation, he was funny.  Trillian liked him (she's a girl, we like those).  He was right about one thing...

Avshae....  Trillian said she got bored w/ the BBS when Avshae was banned.  He was uninteresting but he inspired great retorts.  Things that taught her a great deal about liberty.  Avshae threads = what Trillian knows about liberty that I or SchoolSucks podcast haven't covered.

Bill Grennon would have been banned by Today's Shaw.  I believe then's Shaw would have banned him.  He was more persistent than Avshae and Avshae is gone.  A LOT of people fine tuned a LOT of principles over his threads even though he was almost universally hated.  AND....  I made a brilliant post about Richard's Ass being not labor based property but an equal access right.  Who would have wanted to miss that?  (literally it could be construed as encouraging rape and used as an excuse to ban someone)

When you go trying to force people to communicate in a manner acceptable to YOU, you prevent them from communicating in the manner most comfortable to THEM and that makes it harder for them to convey their ideas.

When you attack dissenters out of fear of them "trolling".  You destroy the valuable interaction and learning that would come from doing nothing at all and allowing things to unfold on their own.  They are a means for people to hone their ideas and perfect their delivery of them, and MAYBE to learn something new or see it from a different perspective.  It detracts from the overall knowledgebase and it causes people to fear saying what they are truely thinking.

For radical ideas to form and be perfected they need a place where radical things can be said without fear.

There is a whole internet for formalized discussion.  I NH Free Press = some revolutionary rag...  FTL BBS = Samuel Adams pub.  Where motherfuckers can mouth off drunkenly about things you could not say in public and revolutions are born.  (I don't know how it was like there.  I just like to think of it that way)

Freedom works.  It's not pretty.  An FTL BBS moderator should understand these things.  Should use their powers as an absolute last resort and always regretfully, with a sad heart.  Never in anger.  NEVER without a clear violation of the ToS that leaves them no other choice.

Neither of these guys have any respect for the magic that is made by this place being absolutely as free as possible.  If they did it would not have come to this.

Let John Shaw keep doing what he does as a regular user.  Let him NOT use the ban button over it.  He doesn't love freedom enough to allow this place to be great again.  Neither of them do.  If Dragline goes.  John Shaw should go over his body bag comment.

That means some people are gonna say some shit that's really fucked up....... So...  So fucking what?

General / Reasonable people losing it.
« on: August 13, 2011, 02:53:47 PM »
So OSU head coach hired a contractor for 13 weeks of work.  Contractor made all the necessary arrangement for that 13 weeks (did not plan any other work for that 13 weeks) and got fired on the first day for thoughtlessly wearing an OU shirt (oops).

Gundy went off about how the guy offended his wife.. blah blah blah as if wearing the wrong fucking t-shirt was a direct assault on his whole life.

Gundy is gonna have to pay the fuck up for his douchbagerry.

General / Met a liberty guy
« on: August 11, 2011, 02:08:05 AM »
Manager at the Buffalo Wild Wings I often talk motorcycles with...  Liberty came up, he asked what I thought of Ron Paul and agreed that he wasn't quite freedom enough.

I had a lot of good lines he had never heard and he couldn't argue with my southern border points but he's still struggling with just allowing anarchy and brown people to run amuck, has some concept of WE owning this land and knows he can't defend it.  Agreed immediately and wholeheartedly that I shouldn't be forced to be a part of the war on brown people through taxation.

He had never heard of Free Talk Live or a whole lot of other liberty things.  I don't know where he got it, came up with it on his own?

Not every day you meet someone who agrees you shouldn't go to jail and understands the full implications of that.  I'm pretty happy about it.  Haven't had a good random bar conversation in awhile.

General / Mow them down
« on: August 10, 2011, 10:17:38 AM »
You got a shop in london full of strongarm robbers....  mow them down.  If there were only one it would be OK.  What's wrong with dropping 50 of them?  No innocent bystanders inside your closed store, just evil fuckers.

My customer said this and I was reluctant to agree but in the end told him I would post it on the internet and defend it.  THIS is why people have legitimate self-defense need for machine guns.

Then we got in a fight about curfews....  I just can't keep my mouth shut when motherfuckers want to initiate force, not even for money apparently.  He was supposed to move out for all this shit... no play FOX news in the middle of my jobsite all day.  It's taking it's toll.

General / Racism
« on: August 07, 2011, 12:54:47 PM »
Listening to last Sunday's show I got annoyed at all the blanket refusal to allow for genetic or cultural differences that have a strong tie to race.

Example.  My dog puked up beef stew a few weeks ago.  Did it come from the old neighborhood watching survivalist to the East of me, or the barely english speaking mexicans to the West?

Is it impossible that the mexicans made textbook american beef stew?  No.
I say there is a very very small chance that beef stew came from the mexicans.  Does that make me a racist?  I don't think so.

Ian and apparently others among the FTL crowd are so feared of being racist they can't see the world in front of their eyes.

Darker skinned people are far more likely to have flatter noses with wider nostrils.  I don't need a study to prove it.

For the record, I like my mexi-neighbors better.

White people are more likely to say "dude" and "awesome".

How can a person convince themselves that they embrace cultural/ethnic diversity when they're so busy denying that it even exists?

General / Mail didn't come today
« on: February 01, 2011, 06:09:17 PM »
9 measly inches of snow and my outbound envelope is not outbound, it's just sitting there.  If I didn't fear government retaliation I'd write a letter to my mail person explaining that I don't really care, I'm not interested in paying someone to brave this weather for my low priority parcel when it will all be gone in a few days thus allowing them to deliver my mail much more efficiently if a few days later.  It's just that I AM paying them anyway.  They forcefully prevent me from choosing the slower cheaper option and then they still don't deliver.

Seems likely Keeniacs aren't behind the legislation but got it noticed because of their higher profile antics.  How many ways does this piss Goddard off?

Episodes & Show Prep / Homeschooling question 1/20/11
« on: January 25, 2011, 05:02:06 PM »
Caller asked if there was a state without homeschooling regulations...  Oklahoma

You don't  have to ask permission and don't have to submit to regulations or testing.  Also you can homeschool other people's kids as long as you don't have more than ten students.

Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Demographics
The average U.S. retail purchaser of a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle is a married
male in his mid to late forties (nearly two-thirds of U.S. retail purchasers of new
Harley-Davidson motorcycles are between the ages of 35 and 54) with a median
household income of approximately $84,300. Nearly three-quarters of the U.S. retail
sales of new Harley-Davidson motorcycles are to buyers with at least one year of
education beyond high school and 30% of the buyers have college degrees.
Approximately 12% of U.S. retail motorcycle sales of new Harley-Davidson
motorcycles are to female buyers. [4]

too important to fail?

General / Thai Protest Leader Gives Police The Slip
« on: April 16, 2010, 02:01:43 PM »
An anti-government protest leader climbed down a hotel facade with a rope to evade arrest and drove off with two police officers taken hostage by his supporters. Authorities have tried without success to end a monthlong sit-in by tens of thousands of "Red Shirt" protesters.

Is there some place I can nominate/vote for "coolest act performed by a revolutionary"?

The ground is properly covered with it for the first time here in over ten years iirc.  Some of the young ones have never seen that before.  Merry Christmas.
