The Polling Pit / Asian women
« on: August 07, 2008, 07:21:03 PM »
I got in a friendly argument today with someone at work who said that "nobody likes Asian girls except you". I'm just curious how many guys here actually DON'T find Asian girls attractive generally.

General / Anti-Federal Reserve propoganda >=}
« on: July 25, 2008, 10:43:26 PM »
I had an idea to help educate people about why central banking is screwing them roundly in the ass, and pique their interest in sound money.

You've all seen those million dollar bills, right? I think it would be clever to print some $1,000,000,000,000 bills with the faces of Federal Reserve heroes such as Greenspan, Bernake, et al wearing dunce caps and such. Adorn it with other bits of satire on the front.

On the back, have a concise explanation of how the Fed is evil, and recommend market alternatives to Federal Reserve Notes. Obviously I'm coming at this from an Agorist direction, but it could have more purely educational purposes too (i.e. directing people to mises.org and such).

There could be several different "denominations", each with a different theme on the back. E.g., "Why the Fed Sucks", "How You Can Beat Inflation", "The Truth About Money", etc.

What say ye?

I picked this up elsewhere, and thought I'd share it. I am most certainly participating.

Quote
The acronym stands for "The Emperor Has No Clothes", and it is pronounced "Enoch" because that sounds cool.

The idea is a None of the Above write-in campaign for 2008.

The idea is different from the hundreds of prior NOTA campaigns because it actually has a candidate. The candidate is to be none other than Anonymous of /b/.

Why will it work? Because Anonymous would be glad to run. Anonymous would supply plenty of volunteer work to get the word out and promote his campaign. Anonymous would provide a huge voting block for himself. And he will do it for the lulz.

What do you think? I think it is quite possibly the best idea since oxygen.

The acronym-name comes from the idea that democracy is an inherently stupid and fallacious idea, and millions of people voting for an internet hate machine would demonstrate that. Will it accomplish anything in the long term? Hell no; democracy doesn't do that. But it will mock and degrade the political process to an extent that has never been done before. And /b/ is uniquely suited for the task of mass mockery.

I hereby pledge to write in Anonymous for every state and Federal office on my 2008 ballot.

Photoshops / The flag of the Antarctic Free State
« on: June 18, 2008, 01:24:16 PM »
Of course, there's no such thing as the Antarctic Free State except as it exists in a novel which I am writing. But I came up with this flag anyway because I'm bored and I like doing stuff when I'm bored.

The bird depicted is the snow petrel, which is the only warmblooded animal which can be found at the South Pole. It's my favorite animal.

In the book, it represents the perseverance of individual liberty and the free market, even under the most oppressive conditions. The motto is Latin for "Persist and thrive".

Photoshops / Chick Tract photoshop challenge!
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:20:40 PM »
For those of you who aren't familiar with Jack Chick religious tracts, go here and look at a few of them. Then you will appreciate the humor of what I am about to post.

For those who are wondering, no. I see no conflict with mocking these tracts while being a Christian myself. I think Chick is a horrible legalistic person who brings shame to the Christian faith with his silly tracts. And I also think God has a sense of humor.

Check these out, and then make your own for great win.

NOTE: you'll need to right click---> view image to see the last one clearly if you use Firefox.

General / I need some help with a project (Agorism related)
« on: May 24, 2008, 10:41:58 PM »
I have an idea to form an online Agorist network, based on the principle of sites such as craigslist but with an emphasis on counter-economic activity; basically a "market crawler" with a counter-economic theme. All exchanges must be straight barter or use non-government currency. The first purpose would be to establish a counter-economic hub for arranging trade, increasing the chances of "coincidence of want", so to speak. Another purpose would be to get some specie moving.

My idea was for each user to create a sort of dossier that lists as bits of data everything that they have that they are willing to trade (goods, services, or private currency especially precious metals), and everything that they want and don't have. Then they would use a program similar to a torrent tracker to "crawl" the web for things that they want, and people who are looking for things that they have. It would help to list each thing by category, and have some sort of method for arranging communication for people who have more... sensitive things they want to trade.

So here's the problem: I HAVE NO EFFING IDEA HOW TO DO IT. When it comes to computers, I'm strictly an end user. I don't know how to make the program, I don't know how to distribute it, and I know almost nothing about how to make it secure.

If anyone would be interested in this project, or know someone who is/might be, please let me know. A tool like this could, potentially, throw the doors to alternative markets wide open.

Or hell, don't let me know. I just want to see something started. But I *would* prefer to be a part of it.
