I think he's the most boring man on the face of the planet.  I couldn't stay awake through ten minutes of his whole speech.  what a snoozer.

also; Racheal Maddow:  Is she a gay?  because she looks like a dyke.  Her male guest right now is wearing a more flamboyant hairstyle than she is.  And why the fuck do news-station anchors gotta try to be comedians.  Fuck you Olberman.  Fuck you Maddow.  I wouldn't pay to see you do stand-up at the Apollo.  What makes you think I wanna see that shit on TV?  Get off it.

This is what they are calling September 11.  I saw it labeled in a calendar/memo book.

General / Da' DMV

sucks.

I am now officially a resident of the state of connecticut.

I drove over there yesterday to get a license transfer from WI.

$120.  wtf.

$80 for the license; $40 for the exam...which amounted to a five minute test of my eyesight.  "Welcome to Connecticut" says the guy after I passed.

This DMV seemed even more inept than the one where I initally got my license in Wisconsin.  At the Appleton DMV they had a kiosk set up with all the forms that you needed to fill out, depending on what your business was that day.  In Danbury, CT you had to wait in a line to get the form from an actual person working behind the counter, at which point they directed you to fill it out and stand in another line.

and then they tell me I need a "primary form of ID."  a birth certificate or a passport.  I had to drive all the way home and back to get my birth certificate.  the language on their website was very confusing, because they add this business about the birth certificate in the license transfer page directly  after talking about change of name...so I assume, "well my name's not changing, therefore I don't need a birth certificate."

not the case.  birth certificate or passport, plus a piece of mail delieverd to mein CT with my name on it, which I had.  Birth certificate.  Primary ID.  "Isn't my license my primary form of ID?" I ask.  "If I get pulled over by a cop, he's not going to demand I show him my BIRTH CERTIFICATE in lieu of an In-State drivers license.  Isn't the fact that I have a license from WI proof enough that I have a birth certificate?  I'm pretty sure I had to cough that up when I got my license there..."

"yeah, you probably did, but not all states require a birth certificate, so the CT DMV needs to see it if your coming in from another state."  Stupid.  When I came back with my birth certificate and was waiting for my license to get printedI actually see this weird looking troll of a woman walk up to the lady who was doing my license stuff and point at me.  Then I saw them grab my paperwork and look over it...Like this woman thought that I had just thrown a fast one by the DMV and manged to get my license without forking over the birth certificate.

I also saw a very young girl working behind the counter, about my age; in her twenties.  I felt sad for her.

Then I had to get my picture taken twice.  The first time I assumed was for the license, but was actually for "identification purposes."  There was a message that showed up on the touch-screen I was using that explained this to me, however it was displayed VERY BRIEFLY....no more than 7 seconds.  long enough for me to perceive "identification purposes."

I hate that place.

Is it just me, or does every person who works at the DMV have carpel-tunnel?  The first woman I talked to was wearing some sort of black wrist dealy.  She looked stupid with it on.  Don't these people know how to type?

The unofficially difinitive official 'Hate-on-Reverand-Sharpton' thread:

Life After Death for King of Pop -- Karen Heller

For a man who spoke so rarely, and in such a childish hush, Jackson continues to cause a racket. On Sunday, the Rev. Al Sharpton called for a commemorative stamp, urging the Postal Service to waive its usual five-year waiting period after a death. He also asked for a national day of mourning, prophesying that today's memorial would "celebrate Michael's life and will affect all nations, all nationalities, and all religions."

General / Overheard in a conversation....
« on: June 16, 2009, 06:09:20 PM »
I heard the word "marijuana" being used in a casual conversation between a local cop and two female gas station attendants this afternoon.  Interesting context too:  the girl was comparing the way southern and northeastern people say the word in their respective dialects--as if she has quite candidly spoken about recreational use with this cop before without any fear of retribution.

I hope Nintendo runs with this.  It would be worth buying a projector just to accompany the program.
