>>>One two three wrote: after all, helping local businesses is the stated point of parking meters.<<<

Have link to that?

This link says last years Keene Kiosk experiment wasn't for business but was for the city to extort more revenue by eliminating piggybacking....

"Last year the City Council agreed to test out two computerized kiosks to serve 47 parking spaces in Keene’s downtown. It was imagined that parking revenues might rise, partly because motorists would no longer be able to be piggyback on time left on meters at vacant spaces."

It isn't a Keene thing. It's the original point of parking meters. They are to help manage traffic.

Robin Hooding = winning.

In a section of Miami, local retailers and restaurants were losing business because their customers were getting heavily ticketed. The businesses formed a partnership and hired a parking meter feeder. (one of them must have watched Danger Ehren Meter Fairy jackass episode.)

Maybe FreeKeene can form a partnership with Keene business owners and get additional support and funding :?:

The parking fees and tickets are really low in Keene and there is limited parking. Doing such might hurt local businesses (after all, helping local businesses is the stated point of parking meters) so I doubt businesses will be interested in that.

Grapevine: Blue language for green energy advocate Al Gore

Unwelcome Mat

A New Hampshire state legislator says she wants to restrict the freedoms of conservatives and libertarians.

Breitbart.com reports Democrat Cynthia Chase is urging colleagues to prevent small government advocates -- called Free Staters -- from taking over New Hampshire politics.

Chase writes -- quote -- "Free Staters are the single biggest threat the state is facing today. What we can do is to make the environment here so unwelcoming that some will choose not to come and some may actually leave. One way is to pass measures that will restrict the 'freedoms' that they think they will find here."

Flowers Sent to Cyntha Chase, Thanking Her for Boosting FSP Recruiting

Cynthia Chase recently created a firestorm of controversy and publicity with her anti-Free-Stater comments. Today, to thank her for all the free media coverage, which naturally resulted in more new people signing up for the Free State Project, a small group of FSP participants put together a nice “thank you” card and flower bouquet that was delivered to her committee meeting in Concord today.

Unfortunately she was not in attendance, perhaps because she’s allegedly scared for her family’s safety for some reason. The flowers were left for her with the chairperson.

Meanwhile, the publicity keeps rolling in. The Keene Sentinel ran a story today as did Blue Hampshire.

Interestingly, the blog posts on Blue Hampshire, referenced at the Breitbart link, seem to have "gone away." Maybe they sounded too much like tyranny.

It moved. Here. http://bluehampshire.com/2012/12/20/20000-political-activists-to-move-to-state-in-2015-2016/comment-page-1/#comment-172625

I believe that higher power is actually us, and therefore, we are our own gods.  To which we pray, save us from alcohol.

Perhaps I'm a failed god, then. Insomnia was an issue but I didn't die. Also trying to quit soda and junk food because weight gain is a big part of the problem. It has been over a week without any of that and weight is going down.

I thought you said up there that it gives you negative thoughts.
Drinking is full while doing it. Being hung over isn't fun. Knowing that you are getting fat, hurting your health, were rude to people the previous day and so on isn't fun.

Lemme rephrase. What triggers you to drink?

Not sure. Boredom? The positive feeling it creates?

What kind of drinking are we talking about? What are your motivations for doing this?

Lots. Health, weight, stop hurting myself, stop hurting others, lack of work, lots of negative thoughts which sometimes happen after drinking.

I've come to the conclusion that I need to stop drinking alcohol. Has anyone here stopped drinking before? I'm wondering if there are tips on what I should or shouldn't do. Is there an OTC pill that's helpful? Is there a good, inexpensive, none AA programs? Any tips or advice is helpful. Thank you.

Yuck. For some reason, I find comedy substantially better if it is life. I find it even better if I've had a few. My roommate watches a lot of stand up on Netflix but almost all of it seems boring to me.

I recently enjoyed Hot Times at Montclair High. I doubt most be would like it though. I reminded me of a time slightly before my own. Netflix is fantastic for watching reruns of 30 Rock and Parks and Rec.

• Bedford Rep. John Cebrowski said he’d never heard of the Free State Project, but considers Rep. Mark Warden a libertarian-leaning legislator and “a good guy.”

Quote
When asked why Free Staters who run for political office in New Hampshire don’t identify themselves as such in their official campaign literature, Warden, the state representative for Goffstown, Weare and Deering, dismissed the need to do so.

“First of all, I challenge that premise,” said Warden. “It sounds like one of the talking points of the Democratic Party. That’s like saying we should have to identify ourselves as being Catholic or Protestant if we decide to run for political office. No one would demand that, so why should it be done in this case?”

Quote
Free State Project President Carla Gericke, who describes herself as a “recovering lawyer,” moved to New Hampshire with her husband from Manhattan in 2008, during a blizzard.

“We are originally from South Africa – I won a green card in the diversity lottery while I was in law school – and we landed in the San Francisco Bay Area in the mid-nineties,” she said. “We both ended up working in the tech sector and were hit hard when the Internet bubble burst in 2000-01.”
When asked to comment on the charge that Free Staters are simply trying to take over the state’s political apparatus, Gericke said that’s simply incorrect.

“I love this question,” Gericke said. “First, I think we should establish where the criticism is coming from. If it is from folks who benefit from the largesse of government, I would caution others to take it with a pinch of salt. Secondly, 20,000 people cannot ‘take over’ a state with a population of more than a million. Even when the move is triggered (when the 20,000 pledge signers are expected to come), FSP participants will make up less than 1.5 percent of the entire population. Third, did you know that two-thirds of the 2010-12 legislators were not New Hampshire natives? That Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen aren’t from here originally? Are they trying to ‘take over’? Lastly, the FSP itself is not a political action organization, it’s not tied to any political party, and we do not run candidates for election. What individual participants do once they get here is up to them.”
