Ohh my fuck am I asking for trouble.

I am in the process of starting a bar band. I am the vocalist and guitar player.

The dilemma I am facing... I have a talented bassist who, from what I gather, is 99 to 100% fucktarded socialist.

I am currently in the process of courting a drummer who appears to be a 99 to 100% Sarah Palin clit licking fucktard.

This may get interesting.

General / My Mail Carrier Must be High or a Drunk
« on: May 27, 2010, 06:38:34 PM »
I am done using the US mail at my residence. I receive more of my neighbors mail than I do my own. I do not know if the situation is the same with my neighboor but I can only assume yes. Cripes, there are only two houses within a four mile radius, How difficult can this be?

On an average month I receive the following

1) 1 bill that I cannot pay electronically...
2) 400 pieces of junk mail
3) An estimated 66% of my neighboors mail.

I use nothing but UPS or Fed Ex for deliveries anymore. I'm looking for a solution without being too much of a dick to the mail carrier. I am thinking about painting "THIS IS NOT THOMPSON'S MAILBOX!!!!" inside the door.

Any other ideas short of grabbing a chain saw and cutting the thing down? Hmmm... I guess I could hand deliver my one bill to the gas company.

First it was the Trailerpark Boys, now this. I'm going to cry :( And them come up with a creative means of viewing the show.

General / Your Earliest Memory
« on: March 05, 2010, 11:14:51 PM »
Just curious as to how far back most people can recall vivid memories.

My first memory is so clear it feels like it happened yesterday. I was a little over a year old, my mom was baking bread and letting the dough rise in a green Tupperware bowl behind the house. I remember getting carried outside, then her getting uptight and setting me in a tractor tire sand box. I remember looking over and seeing the dough overflowing out of the bowl and spilling on to the ground.

I have no idea why that memory stuck as I really can't recall anything else until the 4 to 5 year range, and at that point most of the memories are of me accidentally drinking my dad's Skoal spit out of "New Coke" cans.

How about you? Satisfy my curiosity..what is your earliest memory? :)

The Show / FTL needs more...
« on: February 22, 2010, 08:56:55 AM »

...insane middle-aged female callers.

I may be sick in the head, but I can't get enough of callers like Paula and the "Jesse Ventura - Conspiracy Theory" caller from last week.

General / Paypal generated Master Card
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:35:13 PM »
I've used paypal for years when buying/selling on ebay but did not realize you can use paypal to create a "virtual" pre-paid Master Card for use wherever Mastercard is accepted. You can set your own expiration date or even create a one-time use prepaid card. Just wondering if anyone has used this. It seems like a safe way to shop online. (That is, if you trust paypal)

General / 1U Rackmount Chassis for microATX board for a custom firewall
« on: February 11, 2010, 03:55:45 PM »

I'm looking for a rackmount chassis to build an Untangle or Endian firewall in.

I don't want a full depth server box as I would like it to fit in a switch rack. An ITX board wont have enough horsepower for my needs so I am looking for something that will hold a microatx board.

I won't need a CD rom or anything like that, I basically need something that will hold an atx motherboard, a dual interface nic and a 2.5" solid state drive.

I would like the end result to look more like a switch, firewall or appliance as opposed to a server...

Any suggestions?

General / Irony from a Republican Farmer

A friend who is a Republican and a farmer sent me this image.... I lol'd at the irony. I wonder how many millions of dollars his family has gotten from the gov't in his lifetime.

The Show / Bread and Circus
« on: January 01, 2010, 11:10:54 PM »
I know watching football and enjoying 4x4 vehicles is considered "Bread and Circus" by some.

What about grass and video games? Do these fall under the same category; and therefore, deserve belittling?

General / local wireless mesh network caller a couple months back
« on: December 21, 2009, 11:44:22 AM »

A caller was speaking with Ian and Mark a couple months back regarding wireless mesh networks and what he perceived would become a new version of the internet.

The idea was that individuals would use a standard, off the shelf, wireless router running modified code that would allow it to act as a node on this new wireless mesh.

In theory, if enough people/neighborhoods jumped on board in populated areas, a new, non-internet connected network would be created.

This really intrigues me, I design large indoor and outdoor wireless installs as part of my job and would like to play around taking this to the neighborhood level (and beyond as time goes by).

I am just wondering what project the caller was referring to. Is there a current standard or group of people I can look up to do a little more research?

General / Let's Vote Against FTL on Podcast Alley
« on: November 03, 2009, 05:33:06 PM »
Just for kicks....  :D

Let's "NOT" vote for FTL on podcast alley.... beyond that, let's vote for the current #1 podcast "Double Feature"... for no reason other than to increase their lead over FTL.

Why??? I would like to see FTL get back to the #1 spot by providing a great product.... not by having Ian beg for votes during the show.

I am sorry, but it is FTL's fault they are falling in the rankings.  The show has become lazy and unbearable recently...

I stopped voting and listening a handful of weeks ago when FTL decided to debate the definition of the word "objectivism" for a month straight. Was the topic important??? Maybe. Did it deserve to have the holy living fuck beaten out of it show after show after show after show? Maybe not...

More recently....

I support the 420 protesters but.... JESUSTITTYFUCKINGCHRIST!!! You can take every episode from the day the protests began, interchange them or shuffle them in any order, and easily realize... You are listening to THE SAME DAMNED SHOW over and over and over and over and over again....

I know this is an important topic, maybe the pinnacle of importance in Keene,  but listening to the same show day after day makes for horrible radio.

So yeah.... the reason the show is falling in the rankings… it has been a complete pile lately…

Here's the direct link to vote for "Double Feature"

Tell your friends  :D :D :D
