*Sigh*

TV about people who make me ashamed to be into any sort of preparedness.

At least it looks like Honeyville and Emergency Essentials are getting plugs I guess.

Quote
AUSTIN -- Police have charged a homeowner with murder after a fatal shooting Friday morning.

The deadly shooting happened around 3 a.m. in Northwest Austin at a home on the corner of Staked Plains Drive and Avery Ranch Boulevard.
According to state records, Fred Yazdi, 36, lives at the house with his wife and children. When a man identified as 23-year-old Enrique Recio III allegedly came onto his property, police say Yazdi opened fire, shooting and killing him. Recio died along the sidewalk on the other side of an iron fence that runs in front of the home.

Officers say it all started just before 3 a.m. a block down on Avery Ranch Boulevard. Officers say witnesses called 911 after they saw a man lose control and crash his car. They told police he took off on foot.

However Recio's family says he had car trouble, and had called a friend to come get him. They say by the time the friend got there, the friend saw police on the scene and Recio had been shot.

Officers say Recio had run to the corner house on Staked Plains Drive. Less than 10 minutes after the 911 call about the accident, APD got another call about shots being fired. Police say the call came from inside the home.

Neighbors say they heard three bangs. They say Yazdi has always been protective of his property.

“He felt like that was his property, and he had to protect his property,” said Liz Hudson, who used to live next door to the family. “He said he wouldn’t hesitate [to shoot] if anybody was on his property.”

The shooting may fall under the state’s Castle Doctrine. It allows a homeowner to take lethal action if they’re being threatened in their own home.

Police have not determined exactly where Yazdi was when he fired those shots or where Recio was at the time. They have only confirmed the shooting happened outside the home.

According to state records, the car that crashed belongs Recio who lived about a mile away. It’s unclear whether he knew Yazdi.

Family members say Recio was a straight A student at Texas State University.

General / On leavemethefuckalonianism -
« on: February 06, 2012, 01:32:34 PM »
All ya'll don't understand what I'm getting at.

Leavemethefuckalonianism isn't a method for change. It's just a sentiment. It's an attitude. It's a simple way of thinking. It's not meant to change the world.

For Christ's sake it's not even a real fucking label. It's a semi-tongue-in-cheek thing I made up just for myself in mockery of label flinging horseshit.

I mean great if you agree and use it yourself, don't get me wrong...

The very idea that this concept should be questioned and scrutinized as if it were some debatable issue is silly. Seriously.

If you want a method for changing the world, go find one. The method isn't in the label though.

NOW...

On methods of change - Personally, I think that everyone joining together and doing only one thing to try and achieve freedom as if it were "The one true method" is kinda a market failure. Don't get me wrong, there may only be exactly one method to make the world better. I actually believe this to be the case. (Personally I think child rearing is the key, yes, like the dreaded cult leader Stefbot "Jim Jones Jr." Molyneux) But you know what? Things would already be better than they are if we had the fucking answer in place.

The goal is to do the *most* right and correct thing. Which means experimentation. Which means a large market of ideas all being tried out and documented for usefulness. No one seems to have been documenting and measuring success (In any non-anecdotal way), really, so "we" haven't even really begun the real fight, but the variety of methods is at least large and varied. Hell, there's isn't even agreement on the standard of success for that matter.

I personally think there should be less "Everyone should try my way!" and more "Hey, has anyone tried this?" going on. Maybe followed up by some people being honest enough to say "You know, I tried this thing for almost twenty years and it sorta sucks shit and relies totally on my own debate skills, which no one else shares." Of course, people invest their pride just as much as their efforts so you know, that sort of honesty is hard to come by, even among honest people.

And another thing - The winning method(s) should be applicable to everyone. Everyone should be able to participate in the winning method somehow. Example - Mel and I don't have kids. Unless we end up in a situation where we have the finances to raise kids without hardship (For them OR us), we won't be adopting. No kids for us, basically. That's how it's been for us. Now, if the "Right" way to be rid of the state is raising children without violence, are we suddenly out of the equation for positive change? Do we suddenly not matter? Fuck no. There are a million things we can do to help that cause. Anyone who wants to and has the money can raise a kid. (From a moral standpoint, and don't let's fucking talk about poor people raising kids. S'not my point.)

That's just an example. It should be a universal possibility for action if it is the best way to do something.

This is one of many reasons why I don't participate in shit that not anyone can do.

There's shit I could do that would be very helpful under certain circumstances, but the method to change I would be following would be a complete failure. I mean, I am an excellent, and I mean excellent fucking shot with a rifle. No fucking way I'd ever want to be the guy who has to put that to the test under the guise of getting more freedom. Fuck that shit. That's a good way to die. No. No. No. Not to mention that it wouldn't work. Let people like fucking Tom Alciere and his brigade of insano fucktards try that bullshit.

So some methods are already established to be demonstrably failures. Scrap those.

Point is - We have no metric for success. It's too fucking soon. If you have an idea, go try it. Might work, might not. If your method requires everyone else to agree with you, your method sucks and will probably fail. Unanimity among even peers in the liberty community is hard to come by. I mean, there are people who still argue about the NAP FFS. Dumb people, of course, but they're there.

What I do, in my personal life, to promote liberty, I will not share. (I mean beyond some of the media stuff) The fact that I don't share gives some people ammo to bitch "What have YOU done for liberty lately?!?! HUH! HUH!" So what. Fuck 'em. Can't please everyone. My default answer to people who ask that question is "You don't know because I've chosen for you not to know." or something of the same sentiment.

People need to get offa their fucking high horses. In Claire Wolfe terms - Some people are ghosts, some people are moles, some people are agitators.

Don't question their motives unless they are suggesting that you do something that you find morally reprehensible*. Then lambast them and ostracize the fuck out of them, because they're fucking gooberment infiltrators or just plain stupid people. Either way avoid them.

None of this post was directed at anyone in particular. Just been building up and I needed to vent.

I remain, however, an unrepentant Leavemethefuckalonian.

*An addendum to that - Maybe apply this to anyone who wants to share with you violations of the NAP. They're not above prosecuting people who know of crimes just to strong arm them into being stoolies. Plug your ears and go LALALA.

Mine is Lego and a return to one of my all time passions, one of which I never discuss here.

Anonymous Hacks Neo-Nazis, Finds Ron Paul

The hacktivist collective Anonymous set out to take down the white supremacist American Third Party (A3P) in what they called “Operation Blitzkrieg” but they may have done much more.

In a document dump that includes private forum messages, emails, organization notes another other information the group found numerous connections between Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul and A3P. According to the documents, all hosted here, Paul himself regularly met with many A3P members, engaged in conference calls with their board of directors and engaged in a “bridging tactic” between A3P and the Ron Paul Revolution.

Other excerpts show A3P webmaster Jamie Kelso (whose email account was one hacked by the collective) coordinating meeting between Paul and other members of A3P such as corporate lawyer and chairman of the neo-Nazi group Paul. “I’m going to go to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) with Bill Johnson,” reads an email to an A3P member dated January 2011. “Bill and I will be meeting with Ron and Ran Paul. I have a teleconference call with Bill (and Ron Paul) tonight. Much more later. Things are starting to happen (thanks to folks like you).”

In another passage, Kelso, a former Scientologist and account owner of other German Nazi forums, wrote: “I’ll be at CPAC from Feb. 9 to Feb. 12. I’ll send back reports to you from personal meetings with Ron Paul, newly-elected Senator Rand Paul and many others. It’ll be here on WhiteNewsNow, a place that is really starting to get interesting because of the presence of folks like you. Birds of a feather flock together, and we are really gathering some quality here.”

Accusations of racism and ties to neo-Nazi interests have plagued Paul since the 1990s and have re-surfaced during this campaign. So far Paul has issued standard denials, claiming not to have been aware of the ties between his camp and the racist right and denied authorship of a series of racist newsletters, despite confirmation from his closest staff that Paul signed off on every detail.
So what’s Paul’s explanation now?

BY ME.

In summation -

1. I am a content creator

2. I can't do anything about people downloading my stuff against my wishes.

3. Using government to attempt to do so is wrong.

4. Using government to attempt to do so will make my potential customers hate me.

5. Potential customers who hate me are no longer customers.

6. Using unpleasent or annoying DRM methods will make my potential customers hate me.

7. Potential customers who hate me are no longer customers.

8. All that being true, if someone creates content, and they ask you to pay for it, and you use the content without paying for it, you are a giant shitheel and should be ashamed of yourself. I see no problem with shaming this person and calling them rude names.

9. Shaming people and calling them rude names may in fact invoke hatred from my potential customers.

10. Potential customers who hate me are no longer customers.

11. But they're still shitheels.

12. Therefore, I must give my potential customers an incentive to give me money. Plastic crap and doodads and higher quality versions and bonus material and a million other things that may, in fact, require me to be a creative marketer. That is the fucking way of things, in the world, today.

In a few years rapid prototyping machines are gonna be reasonable to own in one's own house and this shit will all come up again when (At first) nerdy guys (And soon after everyone else) start 3d scanning items and posting the 3d files online for anyone with the money to afford it duplicating all sorts of real life plastic crap goods. Want an exact recreation of that $400 Lego set, or for that matter, every single Lego piece in existence? Poof.

There's no stopping it. Figure out how to make it pay a different way. Government power and violence won't stop this.

Would my time as a content creator have been better spent actually making content than spending huge swathes of time worrying about this sort of bullshit? Yes. Tough shit. Can't stop it.

You want people to buy your hardcover book, it better be leather bound, gold inlay, have a fold out map, have a scratch off redemption code of the Ebook AND audiobook versions in the cover, and come in a box with a plastic figure of the main character.

This is the future and nothing can be done to stop it and I wouldn't if I wanted to because I am also a consumer as well as a producer and I enjoy the best quality goods and services.

*Shrug*

As a matter of fact the mods don't even have the self awareness to know their own motivations so what they claim should be totally ignored because "Direct from the horse's fucking mouth." no longer has any value whatsoever.

Also, the mods are not like other users and should be abused at every opportunity, without being able to defend themselves, because they are all power tripping and just slightly less than human.

Remember - Mods can be abused and trolled and harassed, even though doing so is violating the TOS of the BBS, because they are less than human and should therefore have fewer rights than the other users.

The lady at the meat store had this waiting for me.

This is what a 20 pound side of bacon looks like after you chop it in half and wrap each half in saran wrap and give it to John Shaw and he puts it on a chair and takes a picture of it.

It's almost four inches thick on one end. We made 1/4+ inch slices and deep fried them along with some yam fries tonight.
