Is anything still legal in England?

Breathing.

Barely legal.

The UK government recently spent LOTS of cash to publish pamphlets teaching people how to sneeze properly. Seriously.

Yeah, I'm based in Ireland and it only has a few reviews - one of which is mine.  :D

The world doesn't exist outside the US...it is a conspiracy  :)

I heard about this on the show - I can't believe it's become such a big issue!

Surely, whether minarchist or anarchist, political or non-political l(L)ibertarian, the basic rule is always the Wiccan-like principle of 'An it harm none, do what ye will.'

If you're not in favour of the 'protest' then don't go. You can even openly say it's a bad idea in your opinion - I can see no problem with any of that.

But, as a true lover of freedom, every single person on this board should proclaim the freedom-based rights of the women and men involved in the demo/ protest/ whatever to go ahead and do it whatever way they please.

Personally, I'd love to turn up to the event wearing a pair of plastic breasts!  :D

General / Re: Anarchist Book Project
« on: July 27, 2009, 08:38:25 AM »
I wonder if they'd want anything from the anarchist Christian perspective? I know a lot of (most) anarchists are antagonistic to any religious beliefs whatsoever, but I am writing a book about the NAP from a Christian perspective (identifying the state as the Antichrist in the process) and an executive summary might go well with this project.

No disrespect intended, but I was considering submitting an essay discussing how fundamental religion could be seen as metaphysical totalitarianism. You know, replace the 'gun in the room' with 'hellfire in eternity' type thing.

I watched Pan's Labarynth again tonight. Slight libertarian note: When the Fascist captain is challenging the doctor, "why didn't you just obey me," the doctor replies, "Obey? Just for the sake of it? That is something only people like you can do."

It's a great flick, either way.

I caught THX 1138 the other night - it was an early flick from George Lucas.

It's a wonderful parody featuring a super-sized, fascist nanny state. Totalitarianism with manners. Great movie - the effects are MILES ahead of its time.

I don't think anyone would have an issue if you participating in more threads than just this one.

Exactly. Whoring your book once, twice, maybe three times is fine, but he doesn't stop. He's already got an ad on FTL for crissakes. Participating here is not a hard thing to ask...

You can talke to me directly, Joe. We're adults here.

I don't think anyone would have an issue if you participating in more threads than just this one. I, for one, am a fan and suggest you keep posting here as much as you like.

Thanks, dude.

I know what you're saying - and you're absolutely right. I'm kinda heavy on the pimpage and light on conversation!

I do post on other threads, but a hell of a lot less than I post here. I take your point.

I'll leave this thread over to you guys, then. If you've read the book and want to talk about it, or ask any questions, I'd be delighted to discuss such.

If you want to talk about the themes of freedom throughout such, or living in Northern Ireland or my experience of getting into semi-professional writing, I would also be delighted to address any questions you had.

Apart from that, I'll trouble you no more on this thread in favour of getting more involved in other conversations.

It appears from the posting of some long-standing members of the forum that I have overstayed my welcome here.

Please accept my apologies and assurance of no further posts.

Alternative clothing company, LIP SERVICE, have posted a wonderfully bright 'fashion freak' feature on DDG at:

http://www.lip-service.com/webzine/?p=1522

Here's a snippet:

'If your thing is politely worded tomes about fragile heroines, Drop Dead Gorgeous is probably a bit harsh for your delicate sensibilities. BUT, if you’re into action-laced horror filled with choice vulgarity, vivid gore, and full-tilt, ass-kicking chicks out to, not just survive, but live with a vengeance sporting a cranked up attitude, Drop Dead Gorgeous is your kind of read.'

This is getting to the point of being spam.

Sorry it bothers you, Joe.

The thread is clearly defined so you can avoid it if you so desire, without much intrusion.
