The Polling Pit / Re: Do You Ride Motorcycles?
« on: April 07, 2010, 01:30:49 PM »
Why is my car's muffler too loud for street use, but a motorcycle can pull up along side me in traffic and rattle all my bolts loose and that's perfectly acceptable.  I'm not concerned with the law and state inspection.

I like to drive a can that's whisper quiet. Some of those motorcycles are as loud as a rock concert.  I hate when they zoom past my house too.  I also hate those kids with their boom boom stereos that I can hear a mile before I see.

I'm just old.  I just don't think they should bother me while they enjoy what they do.

You people who voted for lust are just too easily seduced.  Wrath is certainly the way to go.

Just say penis, testicles, or vagina these days.  It's worse than using profanity.

Could you be questioned by the Secret Service just for asking that question?  Maybe not years ago, but if a Ron Paul bumper sticker makes someone a terrorist...

What would you prefer I say "Hail Satan" or "give the germs to someone who is immunocompromised like a cancer or transplant patient"?  Those are nice happy thoughts.

I run a 37" HDTV from my MacBook Pro 17" to watch internet content there.  I've made my own OnDemand by downloading TV episodes and runing Hulu and Netflix to the television.  I can use my MBP while watching the large TV with internet content.  I also watch video podcasts and itunes content.  YouTube doesn't look all that good though

Maybe if we were taking this poll in Israel the results would be different.  I'm sure that they love their life too, just like the Europeans, the Chinese and the Koreans.  I think everyone thinks their lives are the most important and in the USA we are particularly selfish also. We believe that the rest of the world should bow and give its treasure to us so we won't be inconvenienced while the rest of the world starves and dies of disease and war.  I'm cheery aren't I.

I love Julia, I would love to hear her on the show two or three nights a week.  She really makes FTL a better show when she's on, the show takes on a complete more complex character with her.

I have never met her and I understand that she is a bit camera shy.  She looks really young in all the pictures that I've seen. It's judging someone by their looks, but she seems responsible and intelegent and I enjoy her participation on the show.  She just looks like my sister when she was fourteen.  It just is, I don't mean that as a insult.

I couldn't molest any child because I don't feel sexual about any of them.  Julia looks like that to me in her pictures.  I really love her on the show and I'm sure I'd like her, she just looks so young.  I wonder if anyone else has thought of that or if she just doesn't photograph well... or there's lots of old picture up there of her.

Anyway... A follow up to the question should be how do you want to molest the person you chose.

Photoshops / FTL Press Material
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:40:48 AM »
One time I saw material to make your own press pass including a space to photoshop your own photo into the badge.  I remember there being several designs and the looked as authentic as my local paper.

Mark and Ian have often stated that taking a video camera into certain situations and waving a press pass or using the magic words "I'm the press and I have a few questions for you" in a very guerilla style results in government bureaucrats and the police changing their attitude quickly.  They've also said to use the material on the web page an be a reporter for FTL.

Where can I find these graphics again?  That seems like the for of identification I might WANT to carry.  I recently got a new printer and a cheap laminating machine so my output would look professional.  I just can't seem to find this on the site again after forty minutes so I'll ask the rest of you.

The Polling Pit / Re: Nigger
« on: October 05, 2008, 11:13:14 AM »
When we go so far to call it the "N" word we give it too much credit... too much power.  People are insulted by using "coon" or "spear chucker" (remember the Spear Chucker Jones from the original M.A.S.H. movie).  Those are just words.  I'm sure someone will be offended because of the thoughts in my head or the sports teams that I follow (the Red Sox).

Let's just remember, I'm an old, fat, cranky man with a large German Shepherd.  That has to upset someone on its face.  I don't have to open my mouth.

Don't give words that much power.  Besides... we are all niggers on the government's plantation.

The Polling Pit / Re: A-1 or Heinz 57
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:52:42 AM »
I live in Pittsburgh or I voted for Heinz, they make the stuff here... well... they make something here at the headquarters and plant.  Then there's the history center named after the senator (government, hey) and the big football stadium named after the company and several stores around town that sell shirts, magnets and Christmas cards with the Heinz logo on them.  How could anyone from Pittsburgh use anything else Heinz 57.

There even a football player in town named Heinz, but it's spelled differently.  It's a wonder that he hasn't been approached to change his name to the company's spelling to promote the products.

Damn it, those butt holes are cleaner than the marble bathroom sink at the Ritz-Carlton! You must cherish the butt hole.

I think we are really discovering something about you now.  You could post thousands of pictures of girl's sphincters couldn't you?  No, No, No... Don't do  it... but you COULD right?

Women really hate it when you forget their name.  And they get really angry when you call them the wrong name. Sometimes they get evil when you do that.  With a little creative spelling Love is Evol spelled backwards.

Wouldn't it be so cool if you went to the library and asked for help finding a book and Lauren happened to be your librarian and you get stuck in the stacks with her for a few hours talking about about Atlas Shrugged, Austrian economics, tattoos and 80's death metal.  And just then a strong breeze loosens her white summer dress...

The Polling Pit / Re: Best Rush Album - pick 3
« on: August 03, 2008, 08:43:17 PM »
I saw Rush open for Bad Company in 1976.  I've been a fan ever since.  Geddy Lee said "we're goning to play side one of our new album" and I've loved 2112 from that Wed April 7, 1976 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh.

Forward ahead to last month, I don't quite remember the date.  I've seen them about a dozen times since then.  It's outdoors and I'm really focusing on the libertarian nature of the lyrics for some reason.  I see three government blue light thugs looking for a reason to justify their existence at this event.  If the event is peaceful as it is tonight, there is simply no need for them and their "services".  They really seem to be shopping around for a customer who has absolutely no interest or need for the "product" they have to offer.  Of course they ignore concertgoers drinking the overpriced beer and wine and manhandle two people doing nothing but smoking reefer.  Who was harmed?  I have no interest in going back to that facility.  It's been years since I've been there and I doubt I'll be back if that's how they treat their customers.  Quite frankly, the facility outside Pittsburgh offers quite poor customer service overall and is extremely expensive.  I almost did not buy tickets at the gate because terms changed on the day of show and coupons were not honored and again I'll go to Blossom Music Center outside Akron which is a beautiful, wonderful sounding amphitheatre which Janis Joplin opened.

Nonetheless, Rush is a great progressive rock band that comes from a libertarian slant.  If you've read Ayn Rand, You may like Rush
