The Show / Re: Less Stephanie, Please

Stephanie Rocks!  I dig her!
Bruce Springsteen - You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch) (Rockabilly Version)

Stephanie is the best.  She brings so much to the show that no one else does.  It's a perspective that Mark or Ian doesn't have.  I love what Wayne, Michele and Dale brought to the show also.  Stephanie brings something unique, but her contribution always seems on a high level.  I always feel better for hearing what she says.

By the way, Buzz would be a great co-host.

Same thing happened with Sunday's podcast.  There's something going on with the system used to record or upload the shows.

I will all get worked out.

The Show / Re: Scott The Bigot
« on: March 10, 2011, 03:17:27 PM »
So I just watched "They Live" last night and it reminded me of our crazy Sunshine lady. The movie had a conspiracy theory tie-in about aliens running and feeding off of the economy. How close does that come to her insane ramblings? Perhaps she went crazy from watching old sci-fi movies?

Sunfest hasn't been calling.  She appeared out of the blue and dropped off the edge of the world just as fast.  She's nuts also, but she also suffers from not knowing how to call a talk show.

Dave from Montana is also a great caller whenever he picks up the phone.  I'd love to see what he really look like.  Probably nothing like SLy STone or Tommy CHong.

The Show / Scott The Bigot

Scott the Bigot is amusing in small doses.  Sort of like hearing how Tom will work in killing a police officer into his calls.

I was up late and downloaded the Alex Jones show from 04-March-2011 to listen to on the iPod.  Yes, that show is okay in small doses too.

The first call was our friend and bigot, Scott.  He sounded like he was shaking and called Alex "Mr. Jones".  He said that all Jews should be destroyed.  Alex had a meltdown and ranted on him for through two breaks.  Scott really got put in his place.  Scott sounded like he was trembling before God when he called.  What did he think was going to happen.

The show is everywhere on the internet. I downloaded it from iTunes.

Whatever happened to Paula and her fax machine?

What are the podcast numbers for PU?  That's how I listen to the show.  I started because I like Dale on FTL and while the show get a little too gay for me sometimes, I knew that going in and it's mostly about liberty and I can identify there.  I look forward to FTL every morning and PU is a bonus on the iPod as well.  What are your numbers and where are you getting listeners to the podcast.  Are most of them from FTL?

In the morning!

I try to support FTL's advertisers when I can.  At least I will check them out when I can.  I opened this video in the background and it went on for like two hours before I had to close up my business.

General / Re: AP: FDA orders lower doses in prescription painkillers
« on: February 15, 2011, 02:25:48 PM »
Acetaminophen is fine for moderate pain or fever for most people with normal hepatic function; However that is not everyone.  The elderly often have compromised hepatic function due to age.  Also people who use multiple medications are at risk for drug interactions.  That means that Acetaminophen may be cleared from the body more quickly (thus the dose is subtherapeutic) or more slowly (thus the dose might increase).  When blood levels of Acetaminophen are greater than what the liver can convert to an invert substance a toxic intermediate may build up can cause damage to the liver itself.  Often patients waiting for a liver transplant are drug abusers who were addicted to opioid narcotic combination products that contain Acetaminophen.  Abusers take more and more of a drug like Vicodin to get high from the hydrocodone but get dangerous levels of Acetaminophen.

As a pharmacist, I believe that addiction is a health care and social problem.  It's certainly not a legal problem.  Acetaminophen is a huge problem in health care because it's in everything and I don't believe that it needs to be in these products.  I think a reexamination by the marketplace is in order.  The FDA rules that marketplace by fear, so many patients do not get the medical help that they need.  Doctor's do not write prescriptions when they should.  Patients do not admit problems or seek help when they should.

Don't use drugs that you don't need.

LRN.FM - The Liberty Radio Network / No Agenda
« on: January 19, 2011, 02:10:39 PM »
Does anyone listen to No Agenda?  The podcast with Adam Curry (yes the guy from MTV fame) and John C. Dvorak (yes the computer writer).

I've really fallen in love with this podcast which is produced twice a week, it takes no advertising and relies only on donations for support.  I bring this up because it is a libertarian type show and they don't care about IP.  The show can be broadcast anywhere without even contacting them.  There are some potty mouth words on the show, but they are what we might use in a heated debate.

Just wondered if anyone else listened to this show and if it would be a good fit on LNR.

The Show / Re: Tom in NH ?
« on: October 03, 2010, 02:09:27 PM »
Thanks for the clarification.  That is where I get uncomfortable with Tom.  He takes just too much joy when a cop get killed.  It's as though his calls would be okay if he just omitted that last twenty seconds.

The Show / Tom in NH ?
« on: October 03, 2010, 11:06:14 AM »
Just wondered... Has Tom from NH been banned from calling the show?  I haven't heard him call for a long time.  He's one of my favorite.  I would think that will all the police brutality caught on YouTube he'd be calling every night.

For those of you who may not remember Tom, he always seems to take delight when a cop gets killed in the line of duty or something bad happens to a police officer.  Tom takes the position that when a cop is killed and angel sings in heaven.

Tom is always interesting.  I'm not sure how tongue in cheek is he.  I think he's rather amusing, of course I have a dark sense of humor.  I certainly hope that he is not happy when someone is killed even if that person is a dirty cop.  That should not happen.

Just wondered what happened to him.  I would not be surprised if he had been told to tone it down sine Mark and Ian don't want to be associated with anyone who advocates violence.  I agree.  Tom could be taken as endorsing violence against the police, although I think he's just being a comic.

The Show / Re: Problem with the freekeene.com plug
« on: October 03, 2010, 10:53:56 AM »
I never thought of that.  Maybe the ad needs adjusted.

I had a crash course in language living in New England.  A professor talked about his wots or his watts for an hour.  I never thought living in America that English would be a barrier to communication.  Turns out he was talking about a case of WARTS.  How did I know.

Just saying, I lived there so I assumed freekeene.com was the city in New Hampshire.  I guess that not everyone will do that.  Not everyone will keep trying if they misspell Keene the first time or go to Google and search.  Google is great for people who can't spell.

The Show / Re: Podcast Artwork
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:31:43 AM »
It seems as if when downloading the show from an iPhone I have artwork for the mp3 file.  If  I download the show from iTunes from the usual que then sync them to my iPhone to listen to while at work, in the car, in bed, while walking  or in the bathroom, I have no artwork on my computer or transfered to my iPhone.  The same think happens with my iPod... no artwork.

The only way to get around this is to add my own.  There are only a few podcasts that I save after listening, FTL is one.  I get a good graphic and paste it into the artwork filed just like I would with a music file.  It makes the podcasts look much nicer in iTunes and easier to find on the fly on the phone.

It seems to be hit or miss with respect to getting artwork to download with podcasts from iTunes.  I don't think it's specific to FTL.

I use a Mac.

General / Re: How can I copy a Protected DVD onto my laptop???
« on: May 06, 2010, 08:59:42 AM »
Mac or PC?  You might want to consider Handbreak which will remove copy protection and make a compressed file that you can play on your on your computer.

In fact you can get a 1TB or 2TB hard drive or if you have a lot of movies or television shows, say you rent a lot of movies or borrow from the library a lot, maybe you trade DVD's or you have a dongle that let's you record live TV, you might want to get a Drobo and use Boxie to watch all this content on your television.

It's like having your own Netflix.

The best Macintosh programs are Mac the Knife and the now unavailable VirturalHub (but it can still be found).
