Numbers don't lie.

97.23% of numbers you see on the Internet originated in someone's ass.

What's your source?

A pollution tax would be least bad.  Followed by fees on the last government monopolies, like roads and ultimately contact enforcement.  But eventually all would become unnecessary.

Not that anyone except Libman will really care [...]

I cared 5 years ago.   *WAY* too much.  There should be a 12-step program for FTL-aholics like me.  :P

Don't worry, all the posts are still here, just mostly here in General.  [...]

Perfectly reasonable.

I'm an old-time geek, I cut my teeth programming in assembly language on an 80x24 monchrome TTY and using cassette tapes for storage.

Awesome!  I ran a dial-up "AL's SoftWare BBS" in Freehold, NJ in mid-1990s.  Tried several dozen different BBS hosting programs.  My favorite was Syncronet.   Fun times!  But I've moved on.  8)

Ain't nothin' wrong with keeping the BBS alive, keeping the archive of all these posts, and who knows, maybe this will be a safety net of sorts when Facebook turns in-your-face Evil

I have some old message archives (including a pre-libricide SQL dump of this BBS) in libman.org/msg (and some old code on GitHub).  I was aiming at creating a static archive of all FSP-related forums, but never went further with it: depression, homelessness, etc...

Why use something less popular AND much less trustworthy than Facebook (or pretty much any other forum on the Internet)?

FTL is a scam.  Ian doesn't believe in anything but his own unprincipled ego and fucking people over for giggles.

Welp, I'm not in jail yet...

Follow me on Facebook for all news and details.  Yes, Facebook is an "eeeevil corporation", but it has a much better track record than Free Talk Live.

What have you accomplished?

Much libertarian egoboo.   :D

Are you looking for private land to live on, or just public land?

Solving problems of poverty through NGO charities that can afford to buy private land is an accomplishment, but land constitutes well over like 95% of the start-up costs for a Tent City type shelter.

Solving problems of poverty by fucking the government into handing over "public land" to NGO charities and setting that precedent would be a MUCH bigger victory, and I think it's actually attainable.  The government has a lot of unused "public land" but no budget to deal with the homeless.  By providing the land, politicians can look good from both "helping the poor" and "saving tax money" perspectives.  Result: less government-owned land, less government spending, more voluntary charity donations going to things other than land.

The government is the root cause of homelessness, regulating people out of low-income jobs and artificially inflating the cost of living (especially housing and healthcare).  The "war on drugs" and the fucked up education system don't help either.

So, what is the point of your adventures?

Fucking the government.  For details, buy my upcoming book (or read the shit I've been posting on forums for the last ten years).   :P

At least it's 3 free squares a day.

I guess you haven't heard about my Hunger Strikes.  I've spent 50 days in jail in my life (6+3+7+11+3+20) without consuming a single calorie, only drinking water.

Last one was 19 days and 5 hours before the judge had to let me go.  They kept me locked up in Medical for observation 24/7, waiting for me to pass out so they can force-feed me, which didn't happen.  Lost 40 pounds.  Gained it back since.  8)

Next time I'll go 3-4 weeks at least.  The longest Gandhi ever went is 21 days, and he drank lemon juice, which is cheating in my book - makes a HUGE difference.  I asked for calorie-free electrolyte / multi-mineral / multi-vitamin supplements that you're supposed to take (costs pennies a day over the counter), but the bastards won't give them to me...  They're also refusing to release my medical records.   :x

Bullied out of FSP, I stayed in Lakewood, NJ - the only libertarian activist in town...  In Feb 2013, I learned that they were about to pass a municipal ordnance to harass and kick out the homeless camping on "public land", and that has become my main area of focus.  Here's a very small sample of my latest dealings with the local cops:

To learn more, please visit TentCity.org

Being homeless is illegal in Lakewood, NJ.  Over a hundred homeless people camping in the woods on unused so-called "public land" were forcefully evicted from their homes in this town - a travesty that has harmed both the poor and the taxpayers as well!

To protest, I set up a tent in the middle of Lakewood Town Square - a Free Speech action for which I was repeatedly arrested, in violation of my Natural Rights.  I am now facing over SIX MONTHS IN JAIL...

  • libman.org/cam - I have absolutely no video editing skills, and no one to help me.  I hope other activists will take my raw camera roll photos and videos, all PUBLIC DOMAIN, and create better YouTube videos to tell the story...

Great article by Dave Gahary of the American Free Press -- An Orthodox Final Solution --

Quote
Struggling to survive, throngs of homeless are pushed out of NJ's "Tent City" to make way for construction of massive "yeshivas" subsidized by taxpayers.

One of the more biting ironies of recession-plagued America is the drama unfolding in the suburban town of Lakewood, New Jersey, where the homeless in that Ocean County township are being forced to defend themselves not just against the elements and regular police harassment, but against the powerful Orthodox Jewish community intent on stripping the last ounce of dignity from these down-on-their-luck Americans.

With no homeless shelters in the county, under the guidance of Minister Steven A Brigham -- a 12th generation American -- the homeless took up residence in the woods, constructing homes made of canvas tarps, wood, plastic and anything else they could rummage, in what would come to be known as "Tent City". Now, almost eight years later, Tent City is on its way out, a victim of Orthodox complaints of smoke from fires the homeless use to keep warm and cook their food.

The United States Census Bureau in 2010 listed Lakewood as the fastest growing of the Garden State's 566 municipalities, primarily due to that township's Jewish majority. They now constitute the bulk of the population of over 100,000, up a whopping 54% from the last census. The Orthodox population in Lakewood is projected to rise to 220,000 by 2030.

Founded by hard-working Americans in the late 1880s, a blast-iron furnace business kick-started the town's good fortune. Several magnificent estates sprouted around town, helping Lakewood to become a favorite winter retreat for the Eastern elite, including the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Goulds, Astors and others. President Grover Cleveland would spend his dying days in the town.

In what would be a turning point for Lakewood, a Polish-born rabbi purchased a building in 1943 and erected a yeshiva, a school where Orthodox Jews study their religion's central texts, like the Talmud and Torah, to cater to 13 students. Today, the Beth Medrash Govoha yeshiva serves around 6,500 students and may be the largest of its kind in the world.

The reason for the explosive growth is simple: Orthodox Jews like to proliferate. The average family has between five and eight children.

[...]

Minister Brigham, commenting on the matter, told this reporter: "For their own political gain, the politicians are taking the food out of the mouths of the American taxpayer and setting a banquet in front of those who mock us."

As I always repeat:  This isn't about any specific ethnic / religious group.  If the Yakuza, Cosa Nostra, La Eme, etc had been acting like the Vaad, it would be just as bad.  Political power corrupts all!  Also don't mistake this as anti-natalist criticism: I am very pro-natalist!  Having lots of kids is a very good thing - if you can pull your economic weight!

Does anyone wanna go camping on the Jersey Shore?  We got a perfect camp-site here at Tent City, located just 9 miles from the ocean, 14 miles from Six Flags!   8)
