Wonderful, an other "invisible friend justifies my rights". Thumbs down. Next?

Actually, I was hoping for some discussion.  I see you are interested in dismissing the belief's of your fellow journeymen.  I can respect your decision to believe what you want, but why do you feel it's necessary to make comments that serve no purpose?

I believe I've thought my position through very well and I'm not looking down on people who have different views than me.  My belief is that "our Creator" cares for us all and will welcome us all when we pass from this dimension to the next.  Does this belief rate a "thumbs down"?

I don't know of any but I wish you the best, Gene.

Thanks.  I don't want anyone to get the idea that I'm about to keel over or anything...  It's early detection and the progression is usually slow.

In November I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and wanted to know if there are any stories here about treatment.  I was actually scheduled for surgery today but I chickened out and I'm going to monitor my PSA levels a bit longer.  This is in it's early stages and people have been known to live for many years with prostate cancer before going terminal.

I've looked into radiation and the "Davinci Robot" surgery and I like the robot best so far.  It seems either way you run about a 30% chance of impotence and/or incontinence.  Of course I don't want either of those which is one reason I'm holding off for a few more tests.

Being in the field of medicine, we know of many people who have tried different things but I was just wondering if anyone here have stories of people you know with prostate cancer and what the outcome was...

Ok all...  I'm sure there will be many protests, but I'm going to reopen this thread for discussion on liberty, anarchy and religion.  I think maybe people have had a chance to grow up in the last couple of years (hey, I might be wrong...) and I know that some people like to discuss spiritual matters as well as physical.

If there's no real discussion to be had, I will again lock this thread so lets give it a try.

Thanks to all the people who engage in the thankless and somewhat masochistic task of being a moderator here.

No thanks to the trolls and haters.

I agree with Dalebert - Facebook is killing forums.  It's hard to get people to leave FB for forums, despite forums being better for discussions for some of the reasons Gene gave earlier.

And I actually HATE facebook.  It's hard to follow AND it's more closed than forums...

...another timeless ramble from the lap of Ol Pap Brasky. ..c'mere shonny lemme tell ye about life..

It's good that you explained yourself. I don't share that need.

There are enough other people providing (or did provide, before leaving or being banned) negative feedback about mod activity here to cause concern. Whether or not you guys accept the criticism is up to you.

I think the beginning of the end was when BonerJoe became moderator.  Giving a troll that kind of power just went straight to his head.  Before that he was just a jerk that could usually be handled by shooting some of his own spam tactics back at him (like I did) but when he had the "power" he did stupid things like DELETING my thread that had been going for YEARS and was a very active area of discussion in itself (one of the most popular threads ever on FTL - sans breasts).

Once on life-support, it takes a lot of care and work to recover and I don't see any efforts here to revive it, so get used to the death rattle here, it's not going away anytime soon.

RIP

P.S.  Even the breasts thread hasn't had any new posts in over a month - yes, I do check breasts...   8)

I don't believe that FB and twitter are the reasons for the decline here.  I have 2 forums I visit on an almost daily basis and there's plenty of heated discussion going on.  Corvetteforums.com and ronpaulforums.com.  I post as "ChristianAnarchist" on both and have plenty of opposition on the corvette forum (not so much on RPforums of course).  Still there are many posts in threads at both of these.

I can't see how FB is even popular.  There's no real structure or discussion.  Each account is just a string of posts without any real organization.  Try to find something you wrote 5 weeks ago on some page (good luck with that).  Twitter is even more worthless.  Oh, it's great for getting a flash news item out to a group of people, but with the limited tweet size you can't get much of a discussion going.

I think forums are here to stay and then there's the ability to go anonymous with nothing more than an ip address to identify the poster.  Hell, FB knows more about you than your mother and I'm sure twitter does too.  I try to never give REAL information on those two (and I don't even touch the Google alternative for obvious reasons).

Hell, look at this thread, it's the most active discussion I've seen here for a long time.

I'll tell you what's happened.  This BBS used to be a great place for discussion but some of you banded together into an "exclusive club" of asses who would work overtime to be obnoxious (to put it mildly) in order to chase away those who you felt had opinions that you object to.  Well it worked... now it's a ghost town.  You got your exclusive club so enjoy it...

I come here mainly to get the AMP archives so I must come once a week or I miss some and have to repost the links in order to download them.  I only glance at the posts and I marvel that there are only a handful per day when there used to sometimes be so many in one thread that it was hard to keep up with.

I'm posting this and then moving on to other more interesting sites, so flame on to your hearts content, I'll check back in a week...

Regarding the previous post, I certainly don't want to sound as if I'm the originator of the "Govt = Cult" position, I suppose some people have known and taught this position since the beginning of the cult...

Haha... I have to claim at least a bit of responsibility.  I told Ian years ago that "government" was simply a cult.  I've believed and taught this for many years.  "God" is replaced by something called "government" which the cult members believe is all powerful and from which they are endowed with "power" to inflict their "rules" on all of mankind.  Of course, since they are the fake "god's" agents, they themselves are exempt from those same rules...

So "government" = "false religion"...

Gene, why are you listening to Alex Jones, mang?

I very seldom listen to him but this link to the China story was linked on another web site (I forget which one).

General / Some more Chinese BS from Alex Jones...
« on: March 31, 2012, 08:14:29 PM »
You can read this article here about how those in China are "forced" into abortions and infanticide by the goon squads...  The only thing is, it's fiction...

http://www.infowars.com/the-shocking-face-of-chinas-brutal-one-child-policy/

I've called Alex about this starting about 10 years ago and all he does is yell at me and cut me off.  He will not address the FACTS that I put to him.  I have been to China at least 20 times in the last 18 years and my wife is from there so we go often to visit with family.

I will grant you that China DOES have a one child policy that they enforce primarily through economic means.  This usually means you will lose your position if you work for a government agency as perhaps half of the Chinese do.  My wife and her sister were born right before this policy went into effect.  Many of her cousins were born after the policy went into effect.  She has TWO uncles who each had 4 children DURING this period.  They NEVER were threatened with being hauled away and aborted.  Any child born to a family has lifetime health care and some education benefits.  However, if your parents have a second child, BOTH children lose these benefits.  If the parents work for government agency's they will both lose their jobs.

Now I'm SURE that there have been some cases of rogue agents who did some terrible things to women who had a child in violation of the policy and even ONE such action is too much.  In some back-country areas, the local authorities do things that are against policy (and a forced abortion would be against policy).

In one case where my wife's uncle (a peasant farmer) had his 4th daughter, the local enforcers came and took away their couch as a penalty.  For a year they could not afford another couch, so it was a penalty they found uncomfortable, but not unbearable.  I have met this uncle and his 4 daughters several times and I've met many people in China who have multiple children.  It is difficult on those who have more than one child, but it's not so bad that they stop everyone from having multiple Children.

THINK PEOPLE !!!  This policy took effect in 1976.  IF THEY WERE ENFORCEING IT 100%, WHY IS THE POPULATION OF CHINA INCREASING ???

General / Questions about the Zimmerman video...
« on: March 29, 2012, 08:50:19 PM »
I've seen a lot of CCTV video and this one has a couple of funny aspects.  Maybe some of you can explain them.

1.  The camera is constantly shaking like it's on a flag pole in the wind but this video seems to be in an enclosed garage.

2.  The camera pans and follows Zimmerman.  While there are certainly pan and zoom capabilities on some CCTV cameras, why bother panning the camera unless the video operator is looking for something?

3.  The same "shaky" camera motion continues on the second camera within the facility.

Was there an earthquake going on there???

It really looks in both views like a handheld camera rather than one mounted firmly to a wall or ceiling.

Ok, those are my questions, anyone have some answers??

UAW wages, pensions and health plans make up the biggest percentage of the cost. I'd rather pay the tariffs and send my money to the Germans than to let those surly union fucks have any of it.

Absolutely. I'd prefer to send my money to the little brown people though.

Word. I support brown as well with a Toyota and Honda in the stable. When brown builds two-wheels like BMW or four-wheels like Porsche, I'll do business with them on that front too.

Wrong guys... Last time I checked (about 3 minutes ago) they are YELLOW !!!
