Guns are a type of property...So I went with that.

Property or guns?

Property. I can see where I was unclear.

General / Re: Explain the Idea that Taxation=Slavery
« on: August 04, 2008, 04:30:38 PM »
How is taxation slavery?  Taxes pay for:

Public Libraries
Public Transportation
Public School districts
Police Departments
Postal Departments
Fire/Medical
Parks/Recreation
Street Maintenance
City Planning
Building Maintenance
Technical Support
City Legal
Municipal Court
Street Lights
City Manager
Human Relations
City Commission

And more, right?

And part of the profit from cotton went to feed black slaves. So they really weren't slaves, right?

/facepalm
nice.

I pay taxes and what those taxes are used for are not always good.
There will always be corrupt leaders no matter what type of society you live within.
It's not slavery  but rather irresponsible and corrupt, it shows that things do need to change,
but it doesn't mean things are black and white and we're suddenly slaves, this is generalizing the issue
to the point of ridiculousness.

Okay then : Taxation = Involuntary Servitude

So let's say taxes were not mandatory.  Now where is the money coming from to pay for all these services?
People who use the services would pay for them. If there is a market demand, then there is profit to be made. individuals in search of profit would provide them in an efficient mannor.

Kupotek, pick the most abhorrent issue you have with the government....This should not be difficult at all unless you think morality is whatever the politicians say it is...

Right now you are being FORCED to fund that through taxes.

How is that not slavery?

I pay taxes and what those taxes are used for are not always good.

So how can you support it by paying for it. Are your morals so shallow that if 51% of the people in the world decided it is the right thing to do you will automatically roll over and participate in it?

Cops control people's bodies

Politicians control people's minds.

If you can free people's minds, the beatings to their body will no longer have any effect.

Ideas are bulletproof.

The politicians don't create the ideologies that govern their minds. Intellectuals do.
I'll agree with that. An intellectual politician is undoubtedly an oxymoron.

The Beach is why I'm in San Diego!
I'm in Santa Cruz...the city recently settled a lawsuit against Huntington Beach, CA in which they lost the "right" to call Santa Cruz "Surf City USA".
