Give him some more time to get adjusted to his environment, and get him a mirror if you don't already have one. When I was young I had a bird who was in love with himself and chirped in the mirror all the time.

I would not worry about them bonding too much with one and other if you get another bird. Just feed them and give them special bird treats by hand, and they will like you a lot. As for training, its just like any other pet that you want to train to do something (like talk), it is much more efficient to separate the two when doing so. Otherwise they get distracted.

Also, if weather permits put his cage outside so he can hear other birds chirping and get some fresh air as well.

Happy Birthday!

Any bird names yet? He looks kinda blue, what about Skyler?  :)

Seconding the Happy Birthday, but turning up nose at name choice.

Wait for the personality to come through before naming. (And if Skyler turns out to suit the personality of your feathered friend, I withdraw my objection.)

Freddy is great, given your description of him so far.

I like Freddy better too.

Sorry to derail the thread. I didn't understand the difference. I can see how the yearly award is more valuable. Shitty that you guys didn't get it this year.

You could say: FTL is the winner of podcastaward.com's Political category 4 of the past 5 years.

Are there multiple websites that rank podcasts? Why is Podcast Alley so special?

I get the picture that Rob wants to be left alone, so I just leave him alone.

In addition, he takes waaaay too much time to make a point (if you can even find one) and has a very uninteresting writing style.

Mostly I scroll right through his posts.

My birthday present:

Yeah, it's dark, sorry....thought the flash might scare him.  He's pretty timid now, and that's no surprise-- being taken from your sisters and brothers, having your wings clipped and your nails trimmed, being put into a small cardboard box and driven for a while on occasionally bumpy roads, and then being put into a new cage to live with a stranger will probably do that to you.

He doesn't have a name yet-- I'm waiting for him to show a personality.  So far he hasn't done much except for twittering in response to some videos of parakeets I brought up on Youtube.

Happy Birthday!

Meh, I gave it a shot. I'm somewhat proud of it. :)

Living in society is not my thing
I hate the foney smiles they bring
dressed in fashions, I could care less
Her mind is filled with such nonsense
If she were to think one bit
She would cry, thrash,  and undoubtedly hit
But talk about what shoes to wear
or how she should do her hair
and you know that she will be right there

Days and days of mindless crap
while the big boys lay the trap
Her minds refuse to think at all
One global meathead on this blue ball
Yet my dome is part of this shit
Her wars and bitching and hissey fits
I know they will do me in for sure
I can't live without her and there is no cure
So I for one hate society
She will only bring sorrow to me

-Cal Dave

I once read this one in a bathroom stall during my time at UC Berkeley. Which by the way, had the all time smartest bathroom stall graffiti I have ever seen.

He who writes upon these walls
Rolls his shit into little balls
Those who read these words of wit
Eat those little balls of shit

anyone seen The Road? I'm reading the book right now and just realized there is a movie about it.

Great book (but too short!). I started a thread here axin' the peeps where it's playing and I think only one person said it was showing in their town..

Yeah, really good book. The closest place playing it is about 30 miles from me. Maybe I'll make the trip. I want to see how it is portrayed on film while the book is still fresh in my mind.

I saw a bull fight in Mexico once and the bull really has no chance. They beat the shit out of it and stab it with a spear a couple of times before the matador even comes out.

I went to the zoo a couple of weeks ago and saw a bison.  The sign read "Unlike most animals, the bison does not close its eyes when it charges.  A matador confronted with a bison would be in real trouble."

Hm, I didn't know bulls shut their eyes. What a bunch of wimps... jk.  :)

There you go...they're not beyond cutting balls off over a myth.
Could be worse the Aztecs and the Mayans cut out hearts over a myth.

Myth? You mean religion. Meh, I guess they are the same.

Oooooooo! Very nice. I want to see more!

My wife was sitting next to me and the audio alone made her say "aye scary!" She hates horror movies. Something to do with childhood.

Are you going to be selling it or will it be a free download?
