General / Re: Pictures of Your Pets!

Speaking of neighbor dogs. The Bull Mastif that lives behind me broke through my rear fence, then broke through my side fence to get to my other neighbor's yard and hump his bitch.

I came home from work and my side neighbor said "Your dog is in my yard"
"Really? Ok I'll go get her." I said.

I look over the fence and see the bull mastif going to town on his Huskey. Then I look over my fence and see my dogs in my yard. My little angels!  :D I think.

I tell him "That ain't my dog."
He says "well it came through your fence"
I repeat "That is not my animal"

I go inside my house and put my dogs in and inspect the fence situation. The side neighbor does the stupidest thing he could think of. He goes up to the dogs while they are still getting busy. He almost loses a hand when the male lunges at him, but is saved by the fact that dogs get stuck to each other.

I hear the comotion and ask him what happened and he says "I was going to try and get him off."

I said "leave them alone you can't do anything now."

After inspecting the fence I told him where the dog came from and he went to their house and they came to get the dog.

This weekend I'm building a new fence that the rear neighbor is paying for.

Your Jor-ge-ding pictures made me laugh hysterically!

Isn't that the weirdest thing?

omg, and your commentary was just off the wall!!

that's what really had me rolling.  that guy must've driven you insane!

Oh he's a freak.  I went around and took all of those while he was at work.  I think him and my mom have been together for 8 or 9 years.  He used to shut off the breaker to my bedroom and bathroom in the middle of the night so I had no power.  Of course I was sleeping, so I was not using any electricity.  I only found out when it was August in Florida, and I woke up in the middle of the night pouring sweat because the air was obviously off.  And also when I was late to school/work because my alarm clock was obviously cut off.  To this day I still set two alarms to get up for work.

Wow, what a total asshole. Did you piss on his toothbrush b4 you left, at least?

Oh god, who let the Mexican in.

Funny, I was gonna say 'Who let in Zorba the Greek'.

I don't get it.  :? Is that some old movie reference?

Only partially. You truly look like you could walk down Tarpon Springs Avenue here in Florida and you would probably be mistaken for Greek.
Greek? really? I've never gotten that before.  :?

Devilishly handsome, yes.  But Greek, never.

General / Re: Why giving aid to Haiti will help and not "enable" poverty
« on: January 19, 2010, 01:03:30 AM »
I think both sides have good arguments and combined make a whole that could actually make a difference.

Truth be told there is a desperate need for immediate aid, no matter how you look at it. The first thing that needs to happen is to stop the bleeding, so to speak. If you try and go there now and implement some kind of building code or long term solution, while people are still trapped under piles of concrete, they are going to look at you like you are a crazy person. Things need to be stabilized before anything long lasting solution can be put into action.

But the real solution to the earthquake hazard, once things have stabilized, is to have earthquake engineered buildings. And those only come with education. Rebuilding without teaching them how to build will only fix things short term.

Just finished "To Kill a Mocking Bird", again. What a great read. Scout's personality is what I imagine Rillion's would have been like when she was a kid.

Started "This Boy's Life", by Tobias Wolff, I like it so far.

General / Re: What to do about post-quake Haiti?
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:01:54 PM »
I didn't read any of the posts except hellbilly's OP, so I appoligise if somone said this already..

The reason for all the deaths and devistation in Haiti is due to the very poor structural engineering that they employ in their buildings. A disaster of this magnitude only happends once in a while. And as such would cost the people far too much money to  design buildings to withstand quakes of over a 5.0 in magnitude. They are taking a risk in building a concrete or masonry building without proper reinforcement. But being as poor as they are, can you blame them? People need a roof over their heads, it is sad when it ends up killing them though.

The answer is in building design, but the people don't have the tools to correct the problem.

I agree, Avatar was great in 3D. I imagine it would be really lousy in 2D, a lot of the scenes would have drawn on too long without the added effect.

Looking forward to the finished product.  These teaser trailers are frustrating since I have no patience and want the full movie experience.

This.
