Serious Business / Re: Overcoming nostalgia.

For me, it's the loss of the arcades. Even in the mid-80s here in Kansas there are a few still around and I loved it when my parents would take me on my birthday to one. Also, many locations around me have been demolished and replaced (smaller malls, old downtown buildings, and etc), which really messes with my mind considering it still feels like they're still standing.

I'd say I'm spiritual, but not religious anymore. The trappings of ritual are tiring.

I'm still not sure if I ever leave my own home state, unless it is for a better job. I think what matters more is not trying to change the world, but changing yourself. I know that sounds like I'm giving up, but it's not. I'm all for attempting to make a mark on the mind of everyone around you. I just think there are better ways than being in one large circle jerk. Incestuous societies (not literal) are not the way to go, they only help if the world around you is drastically getting worse (and I don't see that happening even with the economic turmoil).

My main beef with FB and G+ are that conversations don't seem to last long. I like that with a message board a conversation can go for months or years and people can drop in and out with their comments, and you occasionally get fresh blood with something constructive or fun to say.

Facebook conversations drop away too quickly.

Most modern social media is all about fitting the context of a smart phone, which means small words, small sentences and more timely discussion. That means no lengthy posts, no continuance of old threads, and definitely no back-and-forth conversation. It's all about PUSH content rather than PULL.

That's pretty much why I'll never move to NH, ever. Even if there's a job waiting for me there, it's just a shit storm waiting to happen. From the video of central square there makes me like NH less. It looks downright trashy (no offense to Dennis and anyone else that lives in NH, but that's how it looks on video).

My cat is always so affectionate after using the litterbox. Just right now she jumped on my bed and started meowing and purring, whilst smelling of fresh cat poo waft.

I can't explain why.

We've come to realize that new babycat Mortimer has a chemical weapons manufacturing facility up his ass.

Having six cats means having many litter boxes. We have a biggun in the bedroom. Never an issue with stink before. Now Mort waits until around four a.m. and then lays a full sized Tootsie Roll (tm) into the box. It actually gives off green gas and the air shimmers around it. Woke Melissa up from a dead sleep the other night.

Me: ZzzZZzZZzzz

About a minute later -

Me: "Whuhhuh? ... ... ... OH FUCK."  *Grabs radioactive tongs and biohazard suit*

Mortimer Brewster Shaw: "Mrow?" *Sits down between our heads, ass facing Mel*

This needs a flash animation to illustrate the shit shimmer effect.

For some reason, I feel a lot "free'er" after having deactivated it.

What made you decide to drop FB?

Don't come to G+, it's just neckbeards and social 'activists' (Thom Hartmann and Paul Krugman worshipers).

General / Re: Last movie you've watched
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:54:52 PM »

Short answer: Don't watch it.

Long answer here.

Seconded, even though I like the parts involving Matt Damon's and Jude Law's characters. That would've been more interesting to see those parts than the govt agents that were just like "duhhhhhhhhhh how do we fix this?!?!"

I loved it for it's low key nature, but I agree that it wasn't really something stellar. I think there's a time and a place for realism, but if they wanted realism in regards to how people would react to a Black Plague or Spanish Flu like situation, then they should've focused on the total breakdown of society and not the CSI-like shit of finding a cure/vaccine. Hell, look at the art that was created in Milan and Venice during the Black Plague, it's fucking creepy stuff. It doesn't take that much imagination to see what would've come out of a modern equivalent (Jones towns every other county, cops rounding up and 'liberating' people in mass grave sites, and the like).

It's hard to not want carbs. I <3 corn chips. Q_Q But I have to get back to eating proper with veggies and stuff. *pouts*
