It was pretty much obvious that this year's opponent would be HHH a year ago, but for a while it looked like Kane (our Glenn Jacobs) was being given a push, so I was hoping it would be him.

I used to have a script that took me to the "Unread Replies" page if I typed "ftl" without arguments, or to search results if I typed something after it. Also "fsp", "nhu", "nhl", "fk", "sea", etc for other forums.
But "Unread Replies" is what makes the most sense I think.

The poll question does say "or whatever other shortcut mechanism you use" - I was specifically thinking of history auto-complete. If you enter from "bbs.freetalklive.com" then that should be a vote for "Root Index". Sorry if I didn't make it clear.
