The Show / Re: Negative Nancy

Capitalism is a specific economic system that would likely arise in a state of great freedom (i.e. a free market). Saying "I support freedom" instead of "I support capitalism" is like saying "I support gun rights" instead of "I support shooting someone who comes at me with a knife."

After last night's show, it is amply clear that Denis is still a quivering sycophant, and a huge dick.

The Show / Re: How many FTL listeners listen to No Agenda too?
« on: December 14, 2010, 11:22:20 AM »
I listen to No Agenda for the comedic value. But sometimes it gets to me how moronic and uninformed Adam and John are. But I guess that's pretty typical for conspiracy theory types (even if some of their theories might be true!)

On Saturday (1:32:18), Ian said "I totally understand and empathize with uh... from where you're coming."

Are you fucking kidding me?!

The Show / Re: Stefan Molyneux debate

I'm not a big fan of religious people, but I found most of Stefan's comments incredibly clichéd and shallow.

Alex Jones fans are such sad people.

(Of course for me the Free State Project failed when assholezilla's started modding this forum.  Makes me glad I stopped AMP'ing when I did...  It proves that FSP is still too centralized and too prone to a cult of personality.  Seasteading FTW!)

You seem to be quite confused.

I'm not sure there are any tough questions for Ian and Mark WRT 9/11.

Right; how could there be? Debating whether the U.S. Government perpetrated 9/11 is like debating whether Jack the Ripper was a jaywalker.

I had heard very, very little from Alex Jones before this show, but the impression I got was that he's about half as crazy as his average listener.

...With the caller bringing up the probably most polarizing issue amongst liberty-type folk (immigration, of course.)

I used to think a libertarian (or whatever you want to call them, eg. "liberty-type folk") could take a principled (albeit incorrect) anti-immigration stance, but I've lately come to the conclusion that this is very unlikely.

I'm pretty sure I didn't imply that it would.

Okay...

Heh ... Gardner Goldsmith's Liberty Conspiracy would drive you totally buggy.

I've tried listening to it and couldn't stand it, but I don't remember that having anything to do with his grammar.

I like how, in an attempt to mock the OP, people are throwing out phrases which they believe (I guess) end in a proposition...and actually don't.

Even if they did, why would that bother me?

The Show / Stop being an asshole about prepositions
« on: May 25, 2010, 02:06:52 PM »
There is nothing grammatically wrong with the sentence "It doesn't matter where you come from," but for some reason, in the May 20 show, Ian decided to instead say "It doesn't matter whence you come" (after a great deal of fumbling). This weird aversion to ending a sentence with a preposition has been rampant in the show lately, and it's becoming grating.

You sound like an uneducated yet arrogant prick when you adjust your wording to some asinine, unnatural construction involving the word "whence" just to avoid ending a sentence with a preposition. IT IS NOT INCORRECT TO END A SENTENCE WITH A PREPOSITION.

See, for example:
