All kidding aside, I am not against FSP at all. Go for it. I believe wholly in moving somewhere to make a new life and in your freedom to do that. There are a lot of liberty-minded people everywhere that believe in making a stand where they are, and I'm all for that, too. The more liberty lovers, the better. I don't care where they live. In fact, I plan on looking into starting a free county project where I am moving.

This creepy attitude that SOME of you movers have that is so snobby, so superior to others--it's not doing you any favors. Your name calling, snide remarks, and your baseless judgment show me exactly what kind of people are moving to NH as part of the FSP. To those folks I say "no thanks" --your idealized cult of FSP is the best reason for not joining the FSP, even if I did move to NH. Also, the people who firmly believe that there is NO OTHER PLACE/WAY to be active and be liberty activists, well that is a defeatist attitude, and I can tell you that I've had plenty of opportunity to flex my freedom of speech, right to assembly, and to participate in civil disobedience whenever I wanted where I live now. Your argument back to that is always, "but nothing happens where you are! You can change stuff in NH." To that I say...maybe. Maybe I can change stuff where I am, too. If the FSP is about concentrating people in one spot to be liberty activists, they may be thinking on too small a scale. An idea as compelling as liberty and freedom is like manure--if you put it all in one place, you just get a big stinky pile. If you spread it around, stuff grows.

Good luck in your efforts, FSPers. I love FTL and I will support the show, which is great entertainment and thought-provoking. I wouldn't even know about the FSP if I didn't listen to the show...what does that tell you? Conversely, I think that there might be more people that did move to NH that didn't sign up with the FSP because of the reasons I gave, so maybe the real point here is, to address fatcat...FSP isn't really a failure. People actually moved to NH. That's pretty amazing, considering. Who cares about the numbers? People actually moved (which is a pain in the ass at any time). That's incredible!  That's no fluke. And fatcat, you and I can rest assured that those folks are part of 'something special.' Because if we don't move to NH, we're just chopped liver, spinning our wheels, going nowhere, useless eaters...

WHY, why do you guys keep arguing about the numbers? It's a canard. Reject the COLLECTIVE that is the FSP.

As Ian always says, "I'm not part of your WE."

On the whole, the free state project fails because of one thing, I think: this strange demand that you sign up. I would never do it just because the whole idea of joining a 'group' to support 'freedom' is at its core an incorrect notion. I am an independent, free thinking individual; I do not subscribe to the joining of any, ANY, group in the name of freedom. I subscribe to direct action on your ideals. Joining a group to simply label yourself such a thing is sort of sophomoric and of the old 'red team--blue team' mind set.

I am a liberty activist; I am not moving to NH because my partner does not want to even consider it. It's an automatic kind of thing, that strong of a rejection of an idea within a committed relationship. You can't disregard it.

I most certainly would entertain the notion of moving to NH if I could. But if I did, I would never, EVER, join the FSP.

The Show / Wal Mart & Healthcare
« on: July 03, 2009, 01:02:29 PM »
Ian, it's sad but true: Wal Mart is supporting the president's employer mandated health care plan:

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/business/columnists.nsf/davidnicklaus/story/221568157C86453E862575E8000736F6?OpenDocument

Personally, I am with Dale on Wal Mart--I have mixed feelings. Wal Mart gives a lot of money to every candidate running for office to create a happier climate for their business, overall (opensecrets.org says it all). They have used the evil system to grow as large as they have. And now, by supporting this health care plan, you can count on Wal Mart becoming financially well-connected to all the opportunities that passage of this plan would provide for such a large, far-reaching retail operation with clinics and pharmacies already in place. They are using the force of the government to possibly land a giant business windfall by supporting this plan.

So sorry I won't be attending the PF this year. I had so hoped to--even up until the last minute I was looking a plane fare.

Most assuredly, I would be a FSP drama voyeur if I could be there. Heh.

So far, I haven't even given you my position on whether or not the Shrine is A) dumb, or B) should exist, yet here you have completely spun a position for me based upon my questioning of your use of a picture....of a woman in a bra.... smoking a cigarette.

...that's a really nasty habit you might want to consider evaluating, particularly if you want me to consider your ideas equal.

I don't smoke.

Don't care about Java...Flash...sparkles...dots...Karma points...yadda yadda. I think content-wise FTL's web site is pretty good. The look is sort of...I don't know...NASCAR? Dark? It has not been updated for a few years...and you need to update just the general look of stuff every year or so. I despise excessive flash/java/graphics/MIDI music...so I think in that regard, and with its content, the site is great. And the podcasts are GOLD. Nobody else, not even the big guys, offers all that. I can't even get cable news shows in their entirety, let alone an archive of past shows. So to me FTL sets the standard for what cable news shows and others should be doing on their web sites.

Soooo....I see I get folks riled up pretty good, looking at the boards. THAT'S THE POINT of being guerilla...is it not? Get people thinking and get people more involved. You are all a feisty bunch.

I think stuff like this is funny, because FTL will never be able to please everyone. Everybody and their mother has suggestions about what would make the show "better" and they're all different.  There's nothing wrong with that of course.  Hey, if you can do it better, do it! The more the merrier! Some people hate the shrine, some people love it. Some people want to hear a three hour show about politics, some don't. Personally, I fit into the "don't" category. If FTL did that, only people who are really interested in politics would want to listen, which is a minority. FTL helps introduce the liberty message to people in an entertaining way that is easy for the average person to understand. Oh, and FTL is getting bigger. -- SOUNDWAVE

No,you cannont make a show/Web site/topic for everybody. I'm sure FTL is growing...someone tried to tell me on this thread that there were only 1000 listeners anyway...I DO NOT believe that for a second. I think there are many, many more. By the way, Julia's comments are the best response to my provocation that has been posted here.

Believe me, I don't look at the shrine...Why do you all care about it so much? LOL...It's not that younger people are sub-par to elders, Lindsay (now who is putting words in whose mouth??), it's just that it's clear to me, anyway, that you guys are younger in your ideas and the way you respond to stuff.

I dunno, maybe FTL is supposed to be like HotRock 99...perhaps that is part of its draw. It gets younger people involved in politics when they wouldn't necessarily have been involved, which is good.

My avatar should be of some ugly fat chick, I see...that way the hatred of the shrine would be justified in your eyes. But because it's of an somewhat okay looking woman--well, that makes no Sense! She should be proud of the shrine, she should be IN the shrine!

Wrong. The Shrine is STILL subjugating women to "women" status. Not equal. And in the universe of IDEAS, we are all equal. In my mind, my ideas are EQUAL with yours...not better, not female. Equal.

Anyway, I enjoy seeing how people react to my posts VERY DIFFERENTLY when the woman picture is up, as opposed to no picture. People just can't help it--it's all about our society. I'm pushing the buttons, you bet...start thinking about this stuff.

My avatar could be anything. So what? I can get any pic out on the internet and use any pic to represent me. What exactly is wrong with the one I have?

Free Talk Live is really good. Could be better. Last night was really boring and uninteresting.

The show could be bigger and better if:

A)The shrine went away
b)The Web site got a total redesign by a professional
c)You guys would stay on topic with politics and freedom issues (what was the whole sex thing last night? So the youngster 20-something year olds could actually talk about something you know? Cuz otherwise, you're pretty boring and obviously really really young...seriously, I expected the next thing out of someone's mouth to be "ow, my balls...")

It will never be any bigger than it is as long as things never happen.

Once in a blue moon the kooks have information that is worth taking a look at. I had never heard of the Bohemian Grove before I saw a kook posting about it. It's interesting stuff. Are they worshiping Moloch out there? Fuck no. But they're acting like total idiots in robes out there. Which is pretty fucking hilarious. Good to know for when one of the Christian Republican friends of my wife starts talking about Republicans. I just walk them over to their computer and pull up that creepy assed "Cremation of Care" video, and a couple of times they've actually started crying. I don't know if that's comedy or tragedy, to see a Christian confronted with the fact that their beloved "Insert Politician Here" is dressing up in robes and chanting in the woods, just like the Wiccans they're so terrified of.

LOL @ Bohemians...how did we get here in this thread? Awesome.

Listen...Ian's body is Ian's business. Don't drag his personal decisions about his "boys" into this discussion. That is nobody's business but his--just like my body is my personal business.
