General / On marxist style libertarianism.
« on: September 18, 2011, 03:01:04 AM »
Anyone get frustrated with libertarians who use class warfare rhetoric, but with the political class against the citizens instead of the bourgeois against the proletariat? There is this belief that politicians, or any government employee in general, is pure evil and has artificially constructed a government to commit crime, and to accomplish this they have mastered indoctrination and manipulation of the lower classes.

There is also "libertarian man" style thinking. Many voluntarists will talk about a future "voluntary" society that could exist, but only if we have a mass cultural change (meaning their ideal society won't work with modern humans) These people place emphasis on environmental influences and feel child rearing is the cause of violence and statism itself. And the kicker is that these people will often talk about the "death of the state", they seem convinced that statism as a political theory is at it's end.

I run across these types of anti-statist far more often than I would like, and I really just can't take them seriously.

I remember reading an article that explained how squatting is the healthiest way to take a shit, hence the reason humans' have squatted for most of history and still do in many countries. Sitting on a toilet is a modern concept, and apparently it's unhealthy.

I just got Spore and I gotta say it's pretty awesome. The only part that sucks is my limited imagination.

Obviously we need to ban children, we got too many people on this planet as it is.

One of the only things that bothers me about Ron Paul is that he will talk about the Constitution a lot, but it's clear that he would have never ratified it and would have opposed it actively. I just think it's a little dishonest since he has actually called himself "the champion of the Constitution."  It's the same with many other libertarians and conservatives as well.

I finally bit the bullet and sat through a marathon of every single Harry Potter movie, I have never watched it before. I have to say, Harry Potter was actually pretty good. And as much as it bothers me, I wanted Voldemort to win. Dumbledore just seemed like an ass and deserved to die.

When asking him about compromise, Ron Paul had replied he is not inclined to compromise on his principles. They brought up the example of the 3/5 compromise in the Constitutions and how Ron Paul's uncompromising view that blacks deserve equal legal rights to whites would have prevented the US Constitution from being ratified. His response to them was "you are making my point."

It's always frustrating when people pay lip service to the Constitution, when in reality they are opposed to it.

I don't understand why you would continue to interact with people you dislike so much.

Not many other people to associate with who share a common political agenda. I've tried talking to conservatives and other right wingers, but the moment you argue in favor of anti-statism you get thrown out as naive or Utopian. It's easier to discuss anti-statism and simply mention that my private police will enforce some policies many of them disagree with.

He's already admitted to being a troll.  He probably doesn't dislike them as much as he pretends.

Obviously there may be some hyperbole (especially given I wrote that statement when I was having an argument over child spanking and it got heated), I'm at least an honest troll. While I do provoke others, I've never been dishonest in doing so.

Sweet lord Jesus reddit is killing me. I'm a regular poster to r/anarcho_capitalism but recently I've been getting hammered by the other posters. I have become far more conservative and realist than my earlier pacifist days, and the Steftards are murdering me. There's this holier than thou mentality, according to Steftards you can't be an propertarian anti-statist and ever disagree with Stef. I am an advocate of spanking and executions for example (yeah, I went really far from my earlier pacifism) but these Steftards are trying to claim that I'm actually a secret minarchist. I also try to point out that while I agree with them on many ethical points, there is in fact no objective morality. This just makes them crazier. These people are worse than the holier than thou Rothbardians, at least the Rothbardians haven't been subjected to pseudoscientific psychohistory and psychoanalysis.

Makes as much sense as going to the beach and seeing a sign that says "no shirt, no shoes, no service."

I'm no doctor, but shouldn't children/people eat things they actually want to eat? Our brains tell our body we want foods, it stands to reason our brains aren't retarded and the things we actually want to eat should be the healthiest.

I can't imagine living around places that experience earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, blizzards or tornadoes. I'd live in constant panic. Even with this small earthquake yesterday, I had to go to a different area of the house for fear it would collapse at some point...I can get dumb when I'm scared.

General / What's the main incentive for drug dealing?
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:45:23 AM »
I often hear that prohibition increases the price of drugs, and for those individuals willing to burden the risk they get a good payout. I'm not sure this is correct, few drug dealers earn much more than minimum wage. Isn't the biggest incentive that the sellers enjoy the drugs they produce and sell?
