General / Smelly Cat

My girlfriend has a smelly cat that's bringing us (i.e. me) problems. How can I kill it without her knowing it was me?

General / Passport dilemma
« on: August 10, 2009, 11:05:19 AM »
I'm divorced with two kids living in Spain. My ex is Spanish and I have retained my US citizenship even though, let's just say I don't do things that "citizenship requires" nor do I give a damn about any citizenship.

My ex wants to make the kids citizens. They're elegible for a US passport but she told me that one of the requirements is I need to write a letter asking for a Social Security number for them and I have a problem with writing a letter asking the government to take away money from my kids for things that they never asked for. I have no idea why my ex is so gung ho about making them responsible to two governments.

What are the possible repercussions/benefits that they could receive by having this document? If they have an SS number, will they be required some day to file a tax return with the US? I dunno.. I don't think it's necessary and I don't really want to do it. What do you guys think?

The Polling Pit / Up to what point is abortion ethical?
« on: January 16, 2009, 09:34:49 PM »
I've personally changed my mind about this issue a million times and I was wondering what you guys think.

I was reading Ron Paul's The Revolution: A Manifesto and he was essentially saying that abortion was infanticide. Being an OB/GYN, he gives the argument that if he were the mother's doctor and through if his negligence caused his patient's baby to die he would be charged with wrongful death.

Ancient Greeks and Romans didn't have abortion and had no problem killing an unwanted newborn baby (ever read Oedipus Rex?).

Some (mostly religious people) think any fertilized ovum has all the rights of a newborn.

What do you think?
