General / Free Talk Live Silver Bar
« on: March 24, 2011, 05:37:38 PM »
So suppose you could order FTL one-ounce silver bars.

Would you rather purchase fancy mirrored-finish ones like the Lakota, or non-fancy matte-finished ones like the FSP?

Fancy costs about $2 more per piece.

General / Bomb Probe Turns Up Vibrator
« on: May 05, 2010, 05:58:54 PM »

APRIL 19--A California Highway Patrol office was briefly evacuated earlier this month when investigators became concerned that an arrestee might have been carrying a concealed explosive device. When officers collared Steven Ferrini on a drug charge, a search of the 60-year-old suspect turned up "a suspicious wire, with an on/off switch" in his pants pocket. "The wire was found to extend from the pant pocket to the subject's anus," according to a CHP report, a copy of which you'll find here. Though Ferrini claimed that the wire was connected to an anal vibrator, officers became suspicious when he subsequently "began to explain his knowledge of explosives and bomb making." So they called in El Dorado County's "explosive ordinance disposal" team and, at 5:45 AM, evacuated "all unnecessary personnel" from the CHP's South Lake Tahoe office. At about 9 AM, the bomb squad "rendered the device safe" and determined it was not dangerous. The report does not indicate why more than three hours passed before the vibrator was found not to be an explosive device. "The vibrator was subsequently removed and placed into property," according to report, which does not identify the CHP employee tasked with that unfortunate evidence collection responsibility. Ferrini is pictured below in an El Dorado County Sheriff's Office mug shot snapped following his April 7 arrest. (3 pages)

General / Bad Religion 30th Anniversary
« on: February 24, 2010, 07:16:56 PM »
Anyone interested in going to either or both of the Vegas shows, March 26th and 27th? I sure would hate to be a lonely punk rocker in Vegas.

General / Ways to Celebrate Independence Day
« on: July 02, 2009, 04:28:01 PM »
So I have to give a speech on Saturday and I want to give people ideas of how to celebrate independence. If anyone has anything to add, that would be great.

Smoke marijuana
At least hold some marijuana
Drink a beer in public
Give a beer to a 20-year-old
Speed past a cop, don't pay the ticket
Get a new dog, don't register it
Drink raw milk
Pay someone for sex
Get paid for sex
Buy stuff online, don't declare it on tax form
Hire an undeclared immigrant

That was the funniest thing I have heard in a while. I have to deal with drunken clients on a regular basis with mixed results. Sometimes they are nicer afterward for putting up with them. Sometimes I don't see them again for two years because they are so embarrassed.

General / Need Some Smoking Ban Help
« on: January 10, 2007, 01:16:00 PM »
Background: I belong to a local private club here in Ohio, where a smoking ban was just enacted. There has been an injunction filed against it for the time being until the legislature finalizes the specifics of the regulations and fines associated with it. I managed to strong-arm the board into continuing to allow smoking in the men's grill room until such time as these specifics are finalized, since I pay for not only my membership but for several of my employees as well.

Now I have to deal with jackasses like this guy, who send around messages like the one I will copy here. If any of you have any free time on your hands today, maybe you could post some clever replies. It is a little like shooting fish in a barrel, but it would be nice to just smack the hammer down in a very decisive manner. Enjoy.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.
>It has been a while since I felt the need to write to all KCC members.  I
>have tried to just sit back and let the board of directors run the place
>without my help.  Ha Ha.  But, after receiving my bill this month and seeing
>the letter concerning smoking, I just have to speak up.
>It's a sad day when our board of directors decides to allow KCC to openly
>break the law in order to satisfy a very few members of KCC.  Over the past
>three years I may not have voted for all 9 board members but in this last
>election I did vote for all three of the new members.  I thought they were
>the strong leaders that would not allow our country club to lower itself to
>Spanky's.  (For all I know maybe Spank's is obeying the law, I have heard
>that Kissners is.)
>I will tell all KCC members, we were to dinner last night at Charlie's Down
>Under and had an excellent meal as usual.  Pete Lunberg told me his sales
>went up almost 20% when he took the plunge to completely non-smoking.  That
>was before there was an Ohio State Law prohibiting smoking in public places.
>So I guess I would like to ask all board members this question.  WHAT PART
>I would encourage every KCC member to report KCC every time you walk in and
>there is smoking going on inside KCC.  I would also encourage every KCC
>member to forward this e-mail or create your own and send it to every board
>member.  Maybe if we all unite against the blatant act our board will start
>to represent the majority of members rather than a select few.
>If I were a board member, I would be more afraid of an employee who is
>against smoking suing KCC for subjecting them to second hand smoke when
>there is a state law on the books prohibiting it.
>I could go on well into the night on this subject, but I will leave it at

General / No Smoking Sign
« on: November 27, 2006, 10:40:45 AM »
So here in the fascist state of Ohio, I am required to place signs on my building indicating a) that smoking is prohibited and b) the health department number to report violations.

Are there any imaginative people out there with good ideas for a sign that complies with the regulation but also gives a nice big middle finger to the state?

General / Wolves - Sheep Voting Cartoon?
« on: October 30, 2006, 09:13:55 AM »
I would love to find a cartoon illustrating the principle that democracy democracy is a sheep and a pack of wolves voting on what to eat for dinner. Does anyone have one or would someone with some artistic talent like to draw one?
