General / Does anyone here watch SGU?
« on: December 01, 2010, 09:02:14 PM »
Well, do you?

That Season 2 mid-season finale was off the chain.  This show, although a little slower in pace and darker in tone than both SG-1 and SGA, in my opinion, is much better.  This is what voyager should have been.  The effects are amazing, the acting by the likes of Robert Carlyle, Ming Na, Lois Ferreira, and the rest is impeccable for a Science Fiction show.  It's WAY better than the re-imagining of BSG.

The whole literally solar powered million year old ship with the capacity to mess with people's minds is awesome.  And the mission that was was revealed is very interesting.

So, has anyone watched it?

I was surprised at the reaction that I got.  I wasn't sure if stuff like abusive cocktail dads, police brutality, weightloss and suicide jokes were going to go over....

Critique away, but please, don't be a dick about it.  Constructive criticism only.

General / Save Mr Clucky!
« on: June 10, 2009, 01:19:39 AM »
Folks,

The city of Miami Beach is trying to get rid of Mr Clucky, the bicycle riding rooster because he is a "Farm animal".  They don't believe that the chicken can be a pet.

I've been to several bike events down here and have run into the cock several times, and let me tell you, the damn cock is really freaking cool.  It's amazing when you actually see him a freaking rooster sitting there on handle bars while the owner rides his bike.

Here is Mr Clucky's website: http://www.mrclucky.com/.

This is more government bullshit...  but I am not surprised.  Miami has gotten so.....  police stateish it's not even funny...  But then again, that's the direction the country has been going for so long, people just don't even see it...

General / Does anyone here watch breaking bad?
« on: April 26, 2009, 10:44:23 PM »
well do you?

If you don't know what it is, it is about a high school chemistry teacher (Brian Cranston I think.  The dad from Malcolm in the middle) who finds out that he has inoperable lung cancer and decides to become a meth cooker to provide for his family after he dies.

It's one of the darkest comedies I have seen in my life.  The episode where the guy's head was cut off and sent on a turtle to the dea who take the head off the turtle and the turtle blows up was just insane!  Go Heinsenburg!

It's on AMC on sunday nights.  They have it on iTunes as well.

General / Has anyone here ever heard of the Ginger Ninjas?
« on: April 22, 2009, 02:29:55 AM »
They are a Latin Rock band based out of somewhere in California.  The thing that makes them unique is that when they go on tour, they go on tour via bicycle, completely unsupported by a car.  Yes folks, they lug all their equipment on the bikes.  They even have some power generators that they connect to some bikes and generate all the power for their shows.  It's just crazy insane.

General / Fatness Be Gone
« on: March 02, 2009, 11:01:13 PM »
Well, I've started my own blog now.  It's mainly about my weight loss journey, but I will be posting political stuff from time to time, like my latest post about the taxpayers clearinghouse video.  So far, I've lost 15.2 pounds in less than 3 weeks, and have about 115 to go.  I've posted a graph on my progress page to show my progress.  I'll also be publishing exact caloric intake and exercise output, body measurement progress, miles walked and bike ridden, photos, etc...  It's all about getting back in shape and preparing for my bike ride from Florida to New Hampshire, New Hampshire to California, then California to Florida in the next year or two.

I'm up to 32 miles a day riding and 5 miles a day walking so far...   I'm just giddy that I've finally started doing it.

The site is still a work in progress but the posts, progress, and about me sections are pretty much complete.

Check it out and let me know!

General / Need suggestions for my first gun.
« on: December 12, 2008, 11:29:00 AM »
Hey guys, I am considering getting my first gun while I still can, including learning to shoot it and eventually get a conceal carry permit here in Florida.

I am looking at getting a revolver for starters, and eventually want to get the civilian version of the P90 (PS-90)(Stargate makes these guns look cool).

FTL Gun people, what type of revolver would you recommend a gun Newbie should get?

Here is a photo of the ps-90..  now that's a cool looking gun.

I've read 1984 twice, and am in the process of reading Anthem...

Both books are similar but from a different perspective...  One from a more Socialist perspective (1984) and one from a more Objectivist perspective(Anthem)

Enquiring minds want to know!
