General / verizon phone - motorola droid 2 or htc incredible

After about 6 years, my cell phone and my wife's cell phones are ready to bite the dust. Battery life is pathetic and we're looking for something nicer. HTC incredibles are $200 and get another phone free - sales monkey said any of the droids will do. Screen is clearer on the incredible than the droid 2 but the droid 2 has the slide out keyboard which I like. Wife will take an incredible, happy with anything that has the web. I plan on also using the phone for looking up drugs/diagnoses at work. Would you give up a noticably nicer screen for the convenience of a slide keyboard? Is using the touch screen for typing something that comes naturally after a bit or if I struggle to hit the right keys immediately it'll continue to be an issue? Any idea on battery life of the droid 2? It's the incredibles weak spot.
