General / voluntary societies
« on: December 13, 2011, 09:15:01 PM »
I am having a converstaion with a friend on facebook and I just can not get the idea of liberty across to this person.

This is one of her responses to me....

"Are you implying that what we need to do is take the government funded services and make them businesses? Because I'm pretty sure that's how health care, pharmaceuticals companies and insurance companies are fucking people over every damn day in America. It's in every person and businesses best interest to earn as much money as humanly possible. So what to do when they charge out the ying yang for more profit, knowing those are services you need or you will die, not giving half of a fuck whether you do because there's someone just behind you in line waiting for you to hurry up and drop dead so it's their turn because they were lucky enough to have the money."

What do I say to this?

General / Intellectual property discussion question blah
« on: January 17, 2011, 02:09:55 PM »
Downloading free music, movies and other elctronic media from the Internet, although illegal, still occurs by using sites such as Limewire and Bit Torrents.

a. What's your opinion on having the ability to download free music files of your choice? Do you think the musicians who oppose online music sharing have made valid points?

b. Discuss the differences you see between sharing music files online and sharing CDs with your friends.

c. The current price to buy a song online is about $1. Is this a fair price? If not, what price would you consider to be fair?

General / ANARCHY!

What's the best place to study up on why anarchy or voluntaryism would work despite common theories?

General / Would America be invaded with no Federal government?
« on: August 26, 2010, 06:21:31 PM »
I asked a liberal type why we needed a federal government and he said the states would be taken over one by one without the U.S. being one nation. Why wouldn't this happen?

General / In a free market...
« on: August 26, 2010, 06:19:40 PM »
Assuming police are privatized, wouldn't they be loyal to whoever is paying them? Which could lead to someone having an army? In this voluntary market, wouldn't the rich rule the poor which is part of the problem it is supposed to help solve?

The Show / Extending a challenge
« on: December 08, 2009, 01:50:36 AM »
I was talking to a person I work with about problems and violence and what-have-you. It finally came to me not wanting to try to explain how right I was anymore and I challenged him. This is the challenge and I have been wondering whether or not I should call and extend this to listeners or not. The challenge is: Name one major problem in American history which has not been the result, or involved government intervention. My wise-ass comment "100% of our problems have occured while the people are under government control" birthed this challenge. I would really like to know if there are any major issues that have not involved the government fucking something up.
