General / Parks and Recreation -- libertarian TV show?
« on: October 23, 2009, 09:45:32 AM »
Has anyone else been watching Parks and Recreation on NBC? The second season has gotten way better than the first. It's hilarious, and it's full of government jabbing. I'd go as far as saying it leans libertarian, or at the very least, it does a good job of pointing out what a joke local gov't is.

The main character takes her role in gov't seriously to that extreme (a big joke), and then many other characters who take it to the other extreme. The cop is a dope, the Parks projects are ludicrous, and I love the way they ridicule the bureaucracy. For instance, this pit has needed filled in for a season and a half, but there's too much red tape to get it done anytime soon. There's a messy whiteboard with everything that "has to be done" before the pit's filled in. Then, there's this big revelation when Mark says that if Leslie really wants the pit filled in, why doesn't she just -- oh my god -- rent a bull dozer and fill it in herself?

Is anyone else watching this? Am I projecting my views onto this show?
