Episodes & Show Prep / Juvi's being criminalized
« on: April 16, 2011, 01:08:41 AM »
I loved the show today. This is a topic I have been trying to bring awareness to for years. This issue is creating a bigger problem  than people realize. My son has a juvi record so long for charges such as fighting in school , skipping school, est... (this is what I call normal teenage behavior.) He tried to get in the military and can not  and living in a small town he is marked man now, He is constantly harrassed by the police and has never committed an adult crime. He is now 23 and in the last 6 months started to stand up for his rights and question authority. the didn't like that  and now he is  in jail on false charges, no evidence and awaiting a bond hearing, with a Public Defender tryign to get him to cop a plea. My concern is , children are not stupid, they KNOW when something is wrong. What this behavior is doing  to our kids is creating a serious disdain for police officers, you know, the people that we should be able to teach our kids to respect and it makes me sick!  if a child is hit at school, whether he hits back or not , he  can be arrested as well. There is something wrong with this, cause I will tell you, I am 48 years old and if someone punches me at my place of employment, I'm hitting them back! and I am a southern, pink purse toten', sweet, high heel wearing, girley girl!  I wish I would have found support like this years ago. Keep up the great work!
