I am a regular listener to SGU as well, and they occasionally dip their toes into the political water, but not too blatantly. Steve Novella is inconsistent; he really impressed me two weeks ago when he said that it's best to "err on the side of personal freedom"; but on last week's show he said that the food industry needs to be more heavily regulated (which was subsequently shot down by the guest who assured him that less regulation would encourage competition that could solve the problem being discussed). I also seem to recall him expressing support for the idea that privatizing education could lead to better science education. So he's on the fence. Rebecca Watson, however, seems to be an pro-government, anti-corporate left-wing extremist who fully supports socialized medicine and education, doesn't trust large corporations but trusts government to regulate them, has been derisive of those who distrust government, and even unapologetically declared that she totally dismisses anyone who correctly pronounces "Ayn Rand" as being not worth talking to--so much for complete thinking, huh? None of the other cast seem to dip into political positions. The Skeptic's Guide is an excellent podcast and I'll continue listening to it, but it's hard to ignore the cacophony when these little gaps in complete thinking regarding liberty clash with what is usually pretty complete thinking regarding the scientific focus of their show.
