That looks cool. Were you using a Cannon SD(some number) camera to take those pics? I think I'm noticing a pattern in Cannon's exposure style.

yup.  damn.

Cannon PowerShot SD1000

Aha!

The pattern that I noticed was that they tend to come out a little bit darker, but more realistic looking. Most Sony point-n'-shoot cameras come out with a much brighter image by heavily saturating all the colors, but then the picture looks like it was mingled with in Photoshop.

You can sort of see it if you go through a bunch of them here: http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/powershot_sd1000/
Compare those images to a Sony DSC-T9 for example: http://www.flickr.com/cameras/sony/dsc-t9/

I've tried doing it in Adobe Illustrator, but I wasn't very successful.

that sounds like a bitch.

Yeah, I think I might have to take a class at a community college on how to use Adobe Illustrator. I'm 'tarded.  :?

Heck, I've been working with Adobe Illustrator almost daily since good old Illustrator 88, and I should still take a class on how to use it.
The latest versions do so much, and have so many features which crossover between products, and all the automation and special effects and filters that I feel like a dinosaur.

But Joy, you're OUR dinosaur!  :P

I wonder what kind of software do most professionals use to make these? I've tried doing it in Adobe Illustrator, but I wasn't very successful.

Illustrator, Corel Draw and Flash. I don't know if Flash allows you to export the image as vector paths though..

That is a pretty cool site..

I tried it out on a logo, but didn't want to join (and possibly pay) for an .eps file. What I really need is an online Paths generator!

Are there any fans of slow shutter photography?

I found this one on Flickr and thought it was pretty cool.

I took both these pics w/ a slow shutterspeed setting + a camera toss when I was in NYC.
