The "We deserve death and hell" line was already there, I did not add that.

Wow.  Yet another reason why I stay far away from a church service *shudders*

If you are ever near Asbury Park, NJ on a Wendsday evening or Saturday afternoon in the summer, you should check out the Great Auditorium and it's Hope-Jones pipe organ.

In 1907 the front of the Great Auditorium was extended to make room for the Hope-Jones pipe organ. Installed in 1908, it was then one of the largest in the world. The total cost was $26,000, half of which was donated by the Hope-Jones Company. A little known fact is that Samuel L. Clemens (Mark Twain) was a member of the Hope-Jones Board of Directors at this time.

The organ has since been rebuilt and modernized. The Great Auditorium's free organ concerts on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons throughout the summer continue to draw enthusiastic listeners.

The Great Auditorium organ was installed in 1908 by English organ builder Robert Hope-Jones who opened his factory in Elmira, New York the preceding year. After years of service the instrument's components were rebuilt in 1934 and again in 1969. Between 1974 and 2004 the organ has been greatly enlarged to include over 9,000 pipes (165 ranks).

Organ News!
Prior to the opening of the 2003 season a new Principal Chorus division consisting of 488 pipes was installed. The division was built by A.R. Schopp's Sons Alliance, Ohio.  This Division acts as a foil to the Positiv and Great divisions and is voiced on 5 " wind pressure.  As a "floating division" it can be played on any one of the five keyboards.

In January of 2004, a new custom built pedal board and toe piston rail were installed as manufactured by P & S Organ Companies, Sulfolk, England.

Future Projects include the installation of a small echo division in the rear gallery. This project awaits funding.

Or, if you're ever in Phoenix, Arizona, go to Organ Stop Pizza!

It's amazing.

Unfortunately, being a part of a high school choir in a town with a church on virtually every street, I have to go to a lot of them.  Luckily I usually slip out before the service starts, if there even is one.  "Sing and run" is my motto.   :P
