Title: Freedom Feens on LRN
Post by: alaric89 on October 22, 2011, 12:51:41 PM
I was actually going to bitch at Ian for not having freedom feens on LRN, but found out today I don't need to.
I started listening about a month ago, and really like it, it is my second favourite podcast. Hope the other listeners like it as well.

Generally the rule is a show must be produced regularly for six months before they will be considered for inclusion.  Mike and Neema accomplished that, and here they are!

Thanks man! We're honored! I have to assume your first fave is FTL, since you're a Gold AMPlifier. So saying we're your number two is, to me, kind of like if I had a garage band for six months and someone with good taste told me at our first gig "My favorite band is Led Zeppelin, but you're my second favorite."

Generally the rule is a show must be produced regularly for six months before they will be considered for inclusion.  Mike and Neema accomplished that, and here they are!

It's a smart policy. Minimizes the heartbreak of podfade. Generally podcasts that run at least weekly often start off with a bang and fade at three or four months. Podcasts that make it to six months tend to run a lot longer than that.

Thanks for inviting us to the party, Ian! And keep doing what you do.

What's a feen?

It's "fiend" in street speak or little kid speak.

This is a bit embarrassing. My favourite podcast is Puke & the Gang. http://www.pukeandthegang.com/ (http://www.pukeandthegang.com/) They are as amateur as it gets.* I think of FTL as a radio show. Truth is they have a lot of filler compared to the pure rock and roll redmeat Freedoms Feens delivers, or the 2 hours of immature insanity that P&TG put out.

*There might be a couple 8 year olds making a podcast out of a treehouse I am unaware of.

(MWD runs off to check out Puke & the Gang. Sounds fun!)

REDISTRIBUTION OF THEFT music video (with lyrics) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crZ3Ifg-Jlo#)
Really like the rift of this song. The Music thread seems to be gone.
A doo ron ron. ( I didn't mean to rhyme when I typed that) Heard it on the podcast and it stuck in my head.

^ Thanks man!

You can download the whole CD "Cling to Our Guns" free here:

I'm out of the actual physical CDs, but I did give a bunch of them to William Kostric to give away, so those of you in NH, you might ask him nicely for a copy.

Anyone who does radio, here's a different download page that tells which ones are radio-friendly (cuss free) and which ones aren't:

I really want to stick Norwegian subtitles on that bad boy. I think Norwegians would like Guns and Weed, but the long monologs were hard for foreigners to follow.

If we collectively don't straighten up and fly right we are all going to be speaking Chinese. Norwegians understand English just fine but a lot of the interviews are almost unbelievable to someone who understands the original language. And Neema speaks a lot of times in rapper slang.... "Keep your gak intact."..... isn't that a Himalayan cow of some sort? A lot of things said in the film are so profound that I believe they need to be understood perfectly. Yeah that retired cop DID say that and yes it goes against every bit of BS you have heard your whole life.

Here's an English transcription of the movie:
http://www.gunsandweed.com/GunsAndWeedMovie_English_transcription_v1.2.doc (http://www.gunsandweed.com/GunsAndWeedMovie_English_transcription_v1.2.doc)

if anyone wants to translate it. There's also a DVD iso of the movie on pirate bay, if someone wants something to put subtitles on. Not sure how to do that, but I'd be fine with someone doing it and uploading the subtitled version for free to PirateBay and other torrent sites.

You guys were talking about words to describe liberty oriented people, and there was a word that I think I heard Ian say before, which is "consentualist."
Title: Re: Freedom Feens on LRN

foreigners need to get with the English revolution..

Most Norwegians I've met are more literate in English than a lot of Americans I've met.

If we collectively don't straighten up and fly right we are all going to be speaking Chinese.

The Chinese language will die, over the long term, with increasing exposure to western culture.  Many Taiwanese knew this long ago and the Chinese are catching on quickly.  Startling numbers speak English, though they read and listen better than they write, and especially, speak (there's a bit of a cultural impediment there.)  Unlike Americans, they understand the power of language, and often embrace the other popular languages, such as English and Spanish.  What they find is that western languages, having been developed much later as written phonetic languages, are better designed and easier to master.  The obvious benefit is the power to communicate with more people, in their own tongues.

English is the fourth most common first language on earth.

English is by FAR THE most common SECOND language on earth. A lot of people on this big blue ball can understand a little bit of English.

Did you make it up? We'll give you credit on a future show for sure if you did.

I'm not talking about inventing the word, I'm talking about informing you about the word.
Did I inform you about the word before or after the other guy?
It's weird if the other guy apparently said the same thing as me verbatim and earlier.
My post saying that I hearing Ian say "consentualist" on FTL was on November 05, 2011. The other guy's post was when?
At this point it doesn't even matter, so we might as well drop it.

Don't know if everybody has heard of these interviews MWD has started doing, but man they are good. I think the word interview is misleading though, they really sound like conversations to me. The word "fuck" seems to be actively encouraged so I don't think they will be broadcasted on LRN.
