Youtube downloader question
« on: July 26, 2010, 02:58:28 AM »

I was wondering what the best site is to go for youtube downloading.  I tried CNET but that didn't seem to work as well as youtubedownload.altervista.org and it didn't work either.  Any suggestions?

I use a shareware browser enhancement called CosmoPod (for Mac OS X) rather than a site.  You might consider something similar.

I use a little command line utility called youtube-dl, especially when I'm in one of my hardcore "pointy clicky is for commies" moods and I'm running OpenBSD.

Some RSS downloaders handle YouTube better than others.  GPodder, Songbird, and Zune had some problems the last time I tried them, but Miro worked perfectly.

I absolutely have to recommend "DVD VIDEO SOFT FREE STUDIO". Here's a screenshot:

Its like 20 freeware programs in one, it doesnt hog resources, it lets you copy-paste mutiple URLs, etc.

I love the program.

http://www.downloadhelper.net/

This is the best.  It works for pretty much any flash-based video site, and that means porn too.

Was going to suggest this one myself.

I'm not sure...  Youtube uses Flash, not Windows Media, so you would have to convert it to get it to .wmv format.  I have never bothered because you can download VLC, which is free, and play .flv (flash video) files just fine.
