American Gods

And...? It's been on my wishlist forever. Last time I went online to get it, I bought Ananzi Boys instead. Don't know why I haven't read this yet. Should I move it over from wishlist to shopping cart?

It's good.  The man did his homework.

Its a tinnny tiny bit into bubblegum fiction...  its not like a full-blown classic.

Its like among Your Favorite Grisham, or that Hemingway looking cat who wrote the Gold Coast.

But with Gods.

"Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline

DL'd the audiobook, narrated by Wil Wheaton.
Enjoying the heck out of all the 80's references, including D&D modules. Story is pretty interesting so far, too.
Likely to smack my teen upside the head if he keeps wandering through the room while I'm listening to say "Shut up, Wesley!" and smirk.

Paused in the re-read of the Sword of Truth series to inhale Snuff* (Pratchett), then back to Faith of the Fallen. I don't know if I can wait until I finish the series to read the latest book. (That's the plan, but I'm not married to it.)

I'm actually considering getting a library card (cringe) because they have ebooks now, even our small-town one does.

*Loved it.

Signed copy.

A little jealous. If he signed it while you stood across the table from him, I'm a lotta jealous.

Antic Hay by Aldous Huxley. Its a novel set in the Victorian era about a guy in the upper crest of society, and his flings with women, mingling with the wealthy, and the general restlessness of his life. I really liked it.

I've been reading "UNDERSTANDING THE FCC REGULATIONS FOR LOW-POWER, NON-LICENSED TRANSMITTERS" by The Office of Engineering and Technology, Federal Communications Commission.

I think I'd rather be reading the phone book or a cereal box. The phone book is far less dry and a cereal box doesn't threaten to put a gun to my head.

A little jealous. If he signed it while you stood across the table from him, I'm a lotta jealous.

It wasn't a public book signing..  somehow, my ex-wife attended some event.  I'm a little hazy on the details.  They took a picture together, and he later sent her a signed copy, in the mail I think.

I honestly don't know how she does it.  Or why.

I was there to pick up the kids or something, and she starts blathering on about this "famous guy".  Normally at this point, I put my fingers in my ears and say "I don't care if you're fucking Brett Michaels!"

This however, was different.  I was like "Do you have ANY idea who this guy is?"  and she's like yeah, he's some famous scientist guy..

So I'm like Gimme That, goddammit..  Before she used it for a fuckin' wheel chock.  Trust me, I'm as perplexed as you probably are.

Reading with kid for book club:

It's good.

Reading 'Brave New World' for my book club. Was floored when I got the email and found out it wasn't the normal women's book club type book. Decided to participate this time, and attempt to bribe them with really good cupcakes, in hopes there will be more of this.
