I just started Dune.  I'm really liking it so far.

just make sure you stop reading the series at children of dune.  god emperor of dune, wow, umm, frank herbert lost it for sure.

just added another book to what i am currently reading, so now it is:

anathem by neal stephenson
the selfish gene by richard dawkins
the art of war by sun tzu
1421:  the year china discovered america by gavin menzies
this months issue of wired
the new issue of the magazine of fantasy and science fiction

and i think that i did not finish the road by cormac mccarthy.  i need to find it (still in boxes from move) and see if i finished it.  about 95% sure i did not.

He was telling us the whole time.

"I intend to continue writing until they nail shut my coffin" (or something like that)

What more of hint do you want?

just so long as george r.r. martin doesn't mysteriously kick the bucket before finishing the "a song of ice and fire" series i will be at least half-way happy.

Les Miserable

Great novel. I mean, great novel. Probably the best ever written. I've read it at least three times, and am in more awe of the writing each time.

I agree.  It's one of my favorite books of all time.

On Tuesday, when the kids are back in school and I have my brain back, I'll be starting Human Action.
My recreational reading is currently Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and Nation of Sheep, by Napolitano

'Salem's Lot is really fucking good so far.

There aren't many books which spooked me to point of scary dreams. This was one of them.
I tried reading it as a teen, and couldn't sleep. Finally read it a few years ago, but still wouldn't read it at bedtime. (That was my own silliness, though)

I'm at the part where Mike Ryerson is spending the night at Matt Burke's house and Matt hears him invite someone in, and then Matt hears a child's maniacal laughter and sucking sounds coming from the room where Mike's sleeping.

I rarely get scared reading books, any book...but this one is just creeping me the fuck out.
