Thanks to all the people who engage in the thankless and somewhat masochistic task of being a moderator here.
No thanks to the trolls and haters.
I agree with Dalebert - Facebook is killing forums. It's hard to get people to leave FB for forums, despite forums being better for discussions for some of the reasons Gene gave earlier.
And I actually HATE facebook. It's hard to follow AND it's more closed than forums...
Facebook has its purposes.
Look... theres only so many hours in a day. People have a bunch of tabs open, they skitter back and forth from FB, to surfing news articles, to watching a few YouTubes, to viewing a few shows on Netflix, to checking Twitter, to listening to a podcast..
Its really no wonder forums are taking a dive. Especially if the specific forum experience is like a bunch of snarling dogs. Who the fuck enjoys that shit? Thats why forums
require a little bit of oversight. Because with the exodus of good-natured polite people, it becomes a Mad Max wasteland.
Theres plenty of room for jokesters, and people with an irreverent sense of humor. But like they used to say in the old-timey Western movies, you better say that with a smile on your face, or them's fightin' words.
Nobody seems to "get it", you can bust balls if thats your thing. Your friends will appreciate a good joke, and a mature recipient will laugh it off.
Hell, even Libman knew when to draw the line, eventually. And if theres people with a bigger disconnect from etiquette than Libman, and they
don't get the loose rules to abide... theres something wrong with those fucks.
