Boyfriend is making deep fried anchovies tomorrow....they're called boquerones, apparently.  I think that's  weird, but I'm willing to try one I guess.

An NYC Bagel Deli just moved in across the street from work.  I just went there for lunch today and was very impressed.  It's about $8 for a very large sandwich which includes a pickle made from half a cucumber and a small side of potato salad, etc.  It's definitely got the edge over Panera in my book as far as sandwiches go.  They're better and slightly cheaper for similar amounts of foodage :)  Panera still has the awesome soup+breadbowl combo that I love.

You know, prices tend to be inflated in Chicago, but that does sound like a pretty sweet deal.  What's it called?  I'd like to visit a place like that next time I'm in town.

It's literally called "NYC Bagel Deli".  There are only two of them, apparently: http://www.nycbageldeli.com/  I went to the one at 300 S Wacker.

I saw a bunch of typos on that website's menu.

Also, I'm eating Cheerios.  I just put the sauce for beef stroganoff in the crock pot for dinner.

Chinese food

That's non-descriptive.  Like quarter of the world's cuisine originates from China.

I have to admit Alex, it bothers me when someone describes another person as being a Chinese speaker in place of Mandarin, or Cantonese. Its about as accurate as saying someone speaks a Latin-varient language in place of saying they speak French, Spanish, or Italian. Only a person with a clouded Eurocentric viewpoint speaks this way.

Yeah, but, to nitpick - just saying "Chinese" (language) can be assumed to mean Mandarin, at least from the point of view of the "national" language (Mainland government is pushing Mandarin education, and so are Taiwan and Singapore, etc).  The same could have been said about the written language, except the traditional / simplified divide.

For cuisine, on the other hand, the generalization is much more lossy.  Dishes from one part of Greater China can have very little similarity to dishes from a region on the other side of the country.

Nothing.  I'm not hungry.  I ate at 8 this morning and haven't been hungry yet.

I want some of what yer taking!

Meridia.  It's a prescription appetite suppressant.  Wildly expensive.   :x

They banned it today. Heart attacks.
