I think he just means he's getting drunk.

Do you really need an excuse for that?

Well, what happened yesterday is a pretty good excuse to get drunk.

I mighta had a tad extra last night.. you know, in a celebratory way, to usher in our new leader!

Can't recall the last time I was truly "drunk". Family certainly does inhibit that sort of thing. But in general, I could have put any date on the statement since I have a drink nearly every day, and it's always whisky.

I'll be running until my knee gives out this evening, then drinking Blue Moon until I can no longer feel the pain.

Forgot how early it would be getting dark... and cold, now that we're past the time change.
Wimped out at 4.5 miles, and 1 Blue Moon.  Drinking coffee now.

I have sent wine back at a restaurant. It was a pretty good wine, but since it was the one open for "by the glass" sales, it'd been open for a couple of days, and was past it's prime. As far as sniffing the cork, I'm sure the Wine Aficionados know all the proper reasons, but here's my granddad's answer: If it smells a bit like grapes and alcohol, good. If it has even a hint of vinegar, don't bother with it.
