Can you direct me to the laws prohibiting the harvesting of tobacco?  RJ Reynolds, Altria Group, and a few other companies might want to know about it.

Most of the tobacco in the world is from Virginia, Kentucky....

That is so fucked up too.  First, we use people's money to subsidize tobacco companies.  Then we take money from smokers in order to educate them not to smoke, then we use people's money to sue the tobacco companies.

Pretty much. I never thought of it that way, but its totally true; Most "sin" industries/products are probably like that. You've also have to love that US farmers get protective subsidies, etc. while people in third world countries starve to death because of sanctions, etc.

GET THE FUCK OUT OF CALIFORNIA, ASAP!

It can't be saved.... "he's dead, Jim"...
The only way to fix it, is to flush it all away

Tobacco is legal to grow but you have to have permission or a permit allowing you to grow a certain number of acers and you have to pay for those permits you also have to have a permit to buy the permit (I know it is confusing).  Recently there was a buy out to buy all the permits to purchase the permits so that people are giving up the right to grow their alotment of tobacco from now on for a buy out price.  The farmer has to balance what they think future earnings might be vs giving up growing any tobacco in the future.

BTW North Carolina is the largest producer of Tobacco in America and the largest buyer of American Tobacco is (brace yourself) The Chinesse Government.  It is one of the biggest export crops in North America.  This is changing as China is now growing their own Tobacco.

Those who took the buy out are looking for a crop that will support the taxes and give them a living.  Most of the farmers I know even the old coots support the following. http://capwiz.com/votehemp/home/ INDUSTRIAL HEMP Advocate

I'm in WA right now, which is actually moderately worse. I'll be moving to NH in a couple of years, after college, provided that the police state doesn't get too much huger. I deal w/ planes a lot nowdays, so if that crap keeps up, I'll be driving 3,000 odd miles cross country to get to the Free State. It would be annoying, but I could make it an adventure... ;)
