They must be stupid to say they wished the cops had gotten violent, which they did. Being a douchebag, while annoying, isn't and shouldn't be illegal. If you don't like the public don't go out in public.

I grew up in a small mid-western town, and this sort of thing was a common occurrence, but it was not viewed as "Protest". We referred to it as "some kids hanging out in the park fucking off, drinking beer, and smoking weed".

It wasn't a protest until the police showed up to protest.  It was just a gathering of friends having a little mild celebration.

On a side note, this is not a hill I would choose to die on, personally.  I've smoked up a few times at 420s but only because it was clear it had become fairly safe to do so.  It wasn't a courageous act.

Personally if I get arrested, I want as much P.R. bang for my buck as possible, so to speak.  I'd prefer it be for free speech against the State or attempting to feed poor people without a permit or something like that.
