Oh. I've never cooked duck before. I should correct that.

Depends - when cooking something like that for the first time, I'd probably pull out Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Julia & her pals did a fantastic job of describing how to work with the ingredients, and why it should be done the way it is.
After that, I'd be willing to branch out.
Oh! The NPR cooking show - Splendid Table... check their website. I have tried so many recipes from there, and received her "How to eat supper" cookbook - it's fantstic.
