I don't even know that many dishes that use grapes.

does wine count?

Or raisins?

Hmmm, this will need to be discussed.

I'm thinking that any grape ingredient is OK store bought as long as it only would take one "step" to make it. For example, grapes just need to be dehydrated to make raisins, but wine requires many more steps.  Hence, yes to raisins and no to wine.

But we will need to work this out. I really don't care either way, but this will add a little drama to the competition.   :)

don't forget grapeseed oil, too.

Try using red or white grapes in a recipe in place of wine, with balsamic vinegar and herbs.
You should get a really good sweet-savory flavor.

They'd also be good cooked into some sort of dressing, to offset spicy sausage - just like you'd use apples or cranberries.

Great tips! Thanks Joy.

Bought 2 lbs of fresh figs at the store yesterday, so it's going to be a figgy week around here.

Tonight:
Sirloin with roasted garlic and figs

Not sure yet what else I'll be doing over the next few days, but one dessert is in order, definitely. Maybe I'll stuff the figs with cheese & herbs to accompany a big salad?
At any rate, it's safe to say this little bout of kitchen experimenting is not one the kids are looking forward to.

Haha, figs.

Yes, figs. And the Turkish steak with garlic-fig sauce rocked.
Cooked vidalia onions in butter & olive oil, then added roasted garlic cloves, sea salt, black pepper and diced figs. Poured wine over it, and used the spoon to mash up figs & garlic cloves while wine simmered off. (I'm getting hungry now, just talking about it.)

And tonight, the figs will be stuffed with soft goat cheese and rosemary, and served alongside a couscous salad with feta, cucumbers, bell peppers & black olives.

Stuffed peppers and sweet potato fries. Back from a camping trip, it sounds pretty good.

I made meatloaf with some horseradish in it, fresh creamed spinach, and baked potatoes. MMM.

You're like the figmeister, or something.

I never had one.  I like saying it, though.  Figs!  figfigfigfig

Broccoli-stuffed chicken breasts with some more broccoli on the side.  I like broccoli and I've eaten kind of badly for the past few weeks since I haven't been home and haven't been in my environment.  My routine has been off.

I have no problem with cold weather.  My challenge is though that I've not driven in the snow before.  Luckily my commute to work is short.
