I haven't done this, but I can imagine that sometime it might happen so I'm asking:
Let's say you live on a narrow street. People routinely park on both sides of the street, meaning that if someone in one of those cars should someday open their car door suddenly, you could easily hit it. If that happens, who is at fault?
Yes, in driver's ed I was taught that if you see parked cars you should always look to see if there's a person in them, and not drive too close to them in case of just such an event. But driving down these streets regularly, that's just not realistic. When I get out of my car, I always check to make sure there's no one coming. But if in the future somebody should forget to do the same and I hit their car door, is it my fault?
