A woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could chuck, if a woodchuck had the munchies.

Because some of us are lazy bastards, who don't always bother to turn to the 2nd, 3rd, etc., page of the list of unread posts.

I will go comment now.

Not sure what "low fantasy" is, but I loved the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series, the One Tree and all those.

Thanks! Turns out, the books I recommended would apply. Thomas Covenant is certainly a sort of "anti-hero." He's a leper and morally, uh. "ambiguous," he even sort of rapes a chick in the first book, but redeems himself later by saving the whole realm, even while believing the whole experience is an elaborate hallucination.

Answer:  Because cats know when you don't want to pay attention to them, and that is their favorite time to pay attention to you.  I would suggest the obvious-- close the bathroom door-- but we all know that would simply result in little kitty paws being stuck under the door for the duration of your bathroom visit, possibly accompanied by plaintive meowing.  Or at least, that's the way it was in my house when I was a kid.

My question: I'm moving to Dallas on Saturday, and am looking for a house to share with my boyfriend.  He's allergic to cats, although for the past year or so he's bought two bowls and many bags of cat food and has been feeding a couple of cats that took up residence on the back porch, and happily pets them when he goes out for a smoke, although he washes his hands when he comes back in afterward.  I'm slightly allergic to cats, in that if I rub my eyes after petting them I get itchy red eyes.  Yet I feel that life will not be complete unless I can adopt and raise two kittens.  How to arrange this?

So called "free thinkers" ...as if it is a bad thing. WTF!

How many of you immunize/d your kids?

My little one was immunized at the hospital, without my consent and then her pediatrician told me that I was risking her life if I did not get her the recommended shots at the recommended ages.

I feel like a shithead for not researching it more... just curious if any of you haven't, and if so why?

hey...either they're your kids...or they're the state's...can't be both ways...

it's not so much about the shots...it's about choice...and who's choice it is...

for example:
if the shot makes your kid a vegetable for the rest of their life...does the government that demanded the shot and perhaps even administered it without your consent...does that government then bear the full responsibility of full-time life-long care for the kid...and if they do accept that responsibility...then do they also get to decide when to euthanize their ward...

we just don't do enough "do-diligence" and it shows when they give your kid shots without your permission(except that you probably did give them permission via some obscure fine-print somewhere...)

and it should also be noted that one of the main reasons for these "immunizations" is to dispel one of the previous objections to public schooling(which was mass exposure to viruses and diseases, of course)

again, I'm not telling anyone else what they should...or shouldn't do...Everyone should be free to choose...
