The police just came to my house.
« on: October 10, 2009, 04:21:48 AM »

My son was hitting his sister and I restrained him to prevent him further hitting her.As usual he screamed so loudly that a neighbour thought he was in danger. My boy has a conduct disorder and aspergers which is particularly hard to control.Sometimes the only way to stop him hurting others is to restrain or remove him from the situation, which further aggravates him and makes him scream very loudly, but it is for his own and other's safety.

We have flyered the neighbourhood before telling our neighbours the situation with him but it seems this isn't enough to stop the cops from visiting. They inspected my daughter looking for bruises and I dont think they believed my wife when she told them the story.Luckily I wasn't here when the cops visited as I was out with my son at the shops.I probably wouldn't have reacted as calmly as my wife.

People will make assumtions simply because they see a man living in a house with his family and they hear some screaming..It is a highly unusual situation for this area which contains a high percentage of single mothers on welfare. The flyer was only a one sentence thing letting people know he screams and cries out regularly because of his disabilities.

It isn't on telephone poles it is in letterboxes,a one sentence information about his disabilities..Since I dont think he should be gagged by us the neighbours will have to live with it.Obviously they dont like the noise pollution that such an active 6 year old can create....Using men with guns to silence a 6 year old is really a low thing to do to us.I wonder how he will react if the police shoot his dad because the neighbours wanted peace and quiet.

You're in a tough situation.  Putting out the flyers probably was a good idea, but it looks like one of the neighbors didn't get the message...

The very concept of having nearby neighbors sucks in general, especially if they can hear what's going on in your house.  There are 75,000 square meters of land per family in this world - that's 13.5 football fields!  (And world population will start declining a few decades from now, and then there's seasteading, etc.)  Surely a well-off first world individual ought to be able to find a place to live without a lot of neighbors nearby...

It doesn't help that the neighbour over our back fence is a weirdo.I had to construct 12 foot fences to keep him from constantly looking into our yard. This may be the excuse I need to convince my wife to move out of town.I was trying to convince her we should get a green card and immigrate just last night and she did not know why we should move. Now she understands  it more. :(

The outback sucks :).I aint crocidile dundee lol

We've found a house we will be buying on the other side of town which will also leave us better off financially.

Because I wasn't home when the cops came knocking they will put a report into the department of human services. It could get hairy if they think they can butt into our lives. The workers are usually straight out of uni and dont have kids themselves. On the plus side our boy has had speech and physical therapy sessions for the past 12 months which shows we are actually doing something to help him.If other people are so concerned they could offer to help but they would rather call the police...It beggars belief that strangers want to make things more difficult in an already stressful situation.

The only way I would leave Australia is if I was single and unencumbered.I am married which means I have a contract with my wife for life.As I have a strong belief in contracts I cant see myself breaking this and taking off overseas. So unless my missus kicks me to the kerb its here I will stay.Hopefully I can counteract this statist bullshit the schools brainwash my kids with. :)

I hate it when I have to repeat brasky.  One day your kid will be older and will meet people.  Won't he be thrilled when those people already know him as the retard on the tel.... mailbox.
