I was arguably hyper-critical of the Ron Paul campaign the last time he ran for office. Even I had to agree that he did some good. A lot of people got disillusioned by what happened, by the blackouts from the media and even outright distortions, all stuph that's happening again. Those people who got disillusioned, many became more consistently anti-statist.
I'm glad he's out there using the platform as a soapbox. He's reaching a lot of people. I couldn't do it. I sort of tried that actually and learned a lot from it. Made me feel really dirty. I'm glad it wasn't for me. I can't get excited enough to actually invest anything in it, even hope. But I'm watching a little from the sidelines and enjoying the show.
What worries me are the people who are getting heavily invested, not just financially or with their time and efforts, but particularly in hope. I worry there's going to be a painful awakening. Some will get more inspired for liberty activism, hopefully something more effective than politics, but I think a lot of people will just get discouraged.
