The Definitive News Story Advocacy Thread
« on: February 06, 2010, 05:54:27 PM »

So we have a bit of a disconnect now between this BBS and the main Drupal-powered site, both of which can be used to post links to news stories and discuss them, and both have some benefits and drawbacks.  The benefits of this forum is that we're all used to it, the comments hypertext syntax is more familiar, and so on.  The only benefit of the main site are that people can vote a story up or down to recommend its coverage on the radio show.  (I would have just used forum add-on scripts for the same effect, but what's done is done.)  I usually go through the new stories there every few days, but I usually just spend a couple seconds looking at each headline unless it strikes me as especially interesting, and I don't plan on using the comments section there at all.  If I have a new news story to post, I'd rather just post it to the forum instead.

The purpose of this thread is to let people on the forum recommend a particular story on the main site and briefly explain why it deserves your thumbs-up vote for on-air coverage.
